****first timer needs help with endplay and spacers

hey guys i was wondering if i could get some help. I'm pretty sure i did everything right just need some confirmation before i mess something up . Well lets see my endplay is 0.006" so its too loose. So as the RA video told me to do take the larger tolerance value of 0.0028" subtract them. 0.006"-0.0028" = 0.0032" out of range. next step is to find the value for an E spacer which i got 0.3171"-0.3179" so i just used the average which is 0.3175" and subtracted that from my out of range figure 0.0032" and get 0.3143" which would be best suited for the A spacer. i take the difference between A-E and get -0.0035" and add that to my end play of 0.006" and get 0.0025" which is within spec. can someone tell me if i did this right and where is the fastest place to get this spacer.

Your math skills are impeccable, but double check the actual thickness of your E spacer. Racing Beat or Mazdatrix should have one in stock

uh i'm completely lost now since i measured my actual E spacer and it came out to 5/16" exactly or 0.3125 and the ones listed on mazdatrix would be less than an A spacer. does anybody know another site which has the listings of spacers.

Recheck your measurements, I've ground down a spacer a half thousandth or so to tighten up a motor a bit, but if the spacer is .3125 and your end play is .006 then your bearings and thrust washers are way worn. Or did you miss installing the thrust washer that goes against the counter weight?

There is a chart in the service manual but it's the same as the one from Mazdatrix website, they are the only spacers I know of.

When I did mine, I just used the chart in the FSM and then called Ray at Malloy for the spacer I needed.

wierd i did it again today and my endplay went down 1 thousandth of an inch. went from 0.006 to 0.005. i guess i wouldnt worry about it that much since its really small. i rechecked the measurement of the e spacer and it came out to .317 which is about right. what figures did you use for the spacers though because they give you such broad numbers to go by. I'm pretty sure I need the A spacer but it could possibly be a B

Math is still the same. Assuming your current measurements are correct, an A spacer will give you .002 to .0027 both well within spec. a B spacer .0028 to .0035 within spec but loser than I'd like.

thank you very much. i was getting confused because the figures are so small and so close to eachother that 2 spacers would fit it in spec. thanks you helped me make my decision on getting an A spacer.
