With 48k miles, car might need an engine tomorrow or in another 48k miles. Roll the dice.

$1100 should get you a down pipe, aluminum AST, Aluminum radiator, new intakes (apexi or hks), boost and water temp gauges and a couple bucks to have in case something very minor pops up.

If you are good at poker, try to flip that to about 7 grand and then you'll be in a better position.
First I'd take it to a rotary shop and have them do a complete once over. They'll point out any issues you have or will have with the car. 48K miles is pretty damn good but you really have no idea what kinda driving went on in that little bit of time. (was that guy a hermit or something! man thats LOW for 13 yrs) Get a compression check to see the strength of the motor then start doing reliability mods to keep you on the road.
power will come later. Make sure its reliable first before you start upping the power.
vac lines, radiator and maybe a dp should cover that first grand.

Maintenance. Get the car looked over and make sure everything is properly working. Then save some money for emergency funds and then mod the car. You never know when you might need the "emergency funds" for the car or something personal! Like in my case I am using the $10k new engine funds to pay bills while I have no income...

For $1100.00 I would get a boost & water temp gauge installed...save what left over for rainy day. If the 7 is your daily driver then you really need the save the money.
