That'll give you an idea of what you are getting into... I think the general rule around here is $1500-$2000 per year..for maintenance.

I have been rather lucky, and haven't had any major problems in the year I've been daily driving mine... But the reliability cost a cool grand... So that may have saved me the other grand. Good luck.

Each car is different so different owers will tell you different things. Basically, with the FD if you do not do your own work, expect to pay somewhere from $80-100 per hour for labor on any work done to it.

If money is going to be a problem, don't get the car..

hahaha you won't be racing it? Suuure
why else would you get it?
After you get one you will realize that it is basically a street legal race car.
And repairs are different for everyone. One person may not have any problems for 5 years and another may blow 3 motors in a year. You have to make sure that you go to a shop that almost everyone has had a good experience with.
If you do your research on this forum you should be able to have a good running car and not have to pay a lot of money in repairs. I got my car with a blown motor I think that is the best way to do it and then have it rebuilt. I don't plan on having any problems for the next few years at all. I do have the 5th gear synchro problem but that's simple I just don't shift into 5th gear unless I am taking a long trip through the highway.

Also you should learn how to use the search feature on this forum. There is so much info on anything you would want to know already backed up on the forum so search and if you can't find it after using some different phrases then ask. Read all of the stickies on the top of the main 3d gen forum.

You are looking at purchasing a car that will be 7-9 years old. There are going to be things that need to be replaced if they haven't.

Over this summer, I've spent about $600 on parts that needed to be replaced (not parts that I've upgraded). The labor I did myself, but the car was down for over a month. Now, the car could have had less downtime if I had a mechanic work on it, but some of the things I fixed would have been at least $1200+ labor charges per job.

This is what I mean about money. If you are on a budget with your current living situation, then don't get the car. If you can afford to fix the car when/if it has problems, then get it.

7's take a lot of work to keep them running, expecially during high speed seasons like the summer. You should expect to spend about 1000-1500 yearly for a good year.

depends on where you buy it from and what you want done extra to the engine. A typical tt rebuild costs roughly 2600

Here's some prices just from KDR, they're in Nazareth, PA and considered to be one of the best.

www.mazdatrix.com also has some prices on their site.

Do you know any of those car mechanics that work only with rx7's and that are located like in Georgia? If possible somewhere around tucker, stone mountain, clarkston, or atlanta?
