Youtube: Fullboost project RX-7

This is a Youtube channel I watch every now and again, Australian-based channel with some good solid tech. They seem to focus a lot on drag racing but that is super popular in Australia.

They are starting a project RX-7 that will be a full-on 4-link rear with a solid rear end -

Should be an interesting project. It's also worth noting that to get serious in drag racing you need to ditch the IRS and go with a solid rear end and slicks. Getting the car to hook up and go is #1 in drag racing. You can see the level of severe surgery required to do this.

I'm interested to see how the motor turns out, should be a pretty wild 2-rotor.

Been keeping an eye on FullBoost with this one as well. Their Billet 4 Rotor Build is some amazing stuff!

Idk if I buy the solid axle aspect. Agree, hooking up is super important in drag racing. But if they only have a two rotor, the solid rear end is overkill for the power levels they will achieve. Maybe it will make it easier, but they could still do it with the IRS.

Considering some of their other rotary stuff they've had on the channel I fully expect like 600hp on alcohol or something exotic for fuel. It's gonna be some serious power.

600 would be fine on IRS. I don't think the Supra crowd gets serious about fixed axles until around 1000. And they have more torque.

Hard launches on slicks would quickly kill a stock diff. Also we are guessing at this point, we'll see what the whole project entails.

Second episode up -

The title card for the video says "2000 HP TURBO INBOUND" - I don't think a 13b can pull that off, but that is one SERIOUS turbo that's gonna make a truckload of power.

They are also going to be running methanol for fuel. That's a whole 'nuther game there too.

Interesting to see how a focused drag car is put together. The car is totally single purpose - that can't be driven on the street or on a curvy track, just single purpose 1/4 mile and that's it.

IRS can work well for drag racing. But the negative camber on squat of the FD isn’t ideal for drag racing.
