SC What are Recaro RZ seats worth?

I picked up a Rx7 that has these seats Red with black middle inserts(also has the red middle inserts as well) with the rails and tilt. I prefer the stock seats and I am wandering what they are worth? I see prices from $1500-$4000 seems like a very wide range.

Last set i saw for sale went for $1970 on yahoo (with tilt) and $1790 (no tilt). If they are good condition with tilt rails I would do $2000-$2500.
Shoot me a PM if you want to sell

Last 3 red sets that I have sold on yahoo have gone for between $5K-$6K... The last black set I sold went for $2.8k and they were not in as nice shape as these appear to be. No tilt rail version is from the Miata, not FD, without the FD3S specific tilt rails you have nothing.

Plus good luck finding reliable shipping with tracking, so already being in the US these are about to be nearly priceless going forward.

You can laugh all you want, i dont care. But the last set of RZ seats on yahoo went for $1970. There was two auctions, one got sold for asking price (one bidder) the other was up for another week and got sold the last day when seller dropped the price from 120k JPY to 100k JPY and put buyout on it. They needed some TLC but overall good condition with the usual bolster wear on the right side, one needed a new belt strap and one the belt hole covers. I can get you the links to them if you think im lying.

Then there was a set of Miata ones last week that sold for $1790 as a pair with well over 60 bids in total. This was a very good set, but no tilt rails of course. That beeing said, the tilt rail mecanism is simple and wold be easy to replaicate if you just get your hands one one of them. There was a set of tilt rails for the passenger side up also last week, and that sold for $530

As for the seats from the OP, they are sort of dificult. I guess they are proper "Spirit-R" red cloth, but with regular RZ cushions. Meaning the buyer have neither, and he will have to buy a set from Yahoo, or Marcus in OZ for his crazy prices to get a matching set. Or a full $2000 reupholstery in Alcantara from ESH. Also, he says nothing about condition, and even from the small picture, i can spot a much needed belt holder replacement.

But, i get what you are saying about them beeing in the US. For US customers thats worth some money. Unfortunatley im in Europe so Japan or USA does not matter much.

So either way .... it's going to be 4000 - 5000 dollars.

4000-5000 for a good condition set

or

2000 for a beat up set + 2000 to get it reupholstered = 4000?

If you just seats, there are much cheaper options from Bride or Sparco.

Yeah. I don't know why old seats are so expensive. Yes they are OEM, but there are much better seats today for much less.

Thanks for everyones input. They are in pretty good condition and I have the red inserts for the seats, so they can be completely red or you have the option to swap in the black inserts to change it up a bit.

The same can be said about our cars .... there are much better for today for much less ....

Here is my take on the RZ/spirit R seat hype for the FD. In the past couple years, there has been an increase in these "collector" RX7 owners that places high value on OEM parts and they are the ones paying good money for these seats. These owners places high value on oem fit/quality. Sure there are cheaper options for performance/track oriented seat options but none will fit as well as these rz/spirit r recaros. The reason people are willing to pay such high $$ for these seats is because they are designed for the FD. Not to mention the till rail that gives taller drivers extra headroom in a tight spaced FD (even worse if you have sunroof). You don't run into the risk of side bolster/shoulder of the seat hitting door and not fitting. Those factors alone are worth a lot to some of these "collector" RX7 owners. Say whatever you guys want to say about these seats but the value is set at whatever the buyer is willing to pay. These days people are willing to pay $3-5k for these seats last time I checked. I have had 4 sets of these seats and have sold 3 pairs over the last couple years. I currently have the spirit R recaros installed in my FD. The price aint going down I can tell you that. Look at how much the NSX type R recaro seats are going for these days, the FD recaros actually seem like a deal.

Now you are just being silly. Unless you are looking to exclusively track the car, these destroy every other option by a country mile in ever direction.

Closer to $5K for a pair of Spirit Rs in excellent condition with tilt rails and new or almost new seatbelt guides.

There was a build a while ago, 3 rotor NA, customized Status seats. With the OEM reactors hitting $5k, other high end seats are in play.

But those seats don't offer the fitment and ease of use (enter / exit) of stock Recaros ....
Just took a look at the Status, great seats! But I feel I'll either F up my knee or the boosters getting in and out of the car ... (mine is a street car)

Not all, I drive my car 100% on the street and while I admit that the high bolsters are a pain (remedied by a removable wheel) , my reclining Bride Seats are damn comfy

Yes all. Those compete only in one aspect, comfort, and lose badly, see above for why. They are a nice distant second place though.
