WA Vacuum hose kits sellers that aren't defunct

I was dismayed to find out the two silicone kit offerers mentioned in Dale Clartk's
excellent thread have stopped offering these kits priced at under $100.

There's an eBay kit selling for about twice as much, but I might as well go with viton
tubing from McMaster Carr at those prices if those are still offered .. or source various tubing diameters individually..

Can anybody who has recently swapped rat's nest hoses recommend a kit that offers thick walled silicone tubing, but reasonably priced ?

I just did mine with silicone hoses from boostcontroller.com, it's quality stuff. They don't come in a kit but you can find the lengths and sizes by searching.

+1 for boostcontroller.com

I just finished my first vacuum hose job, it took me longer than the average time to complete, but everything went smoothly on the first try (which was the most important thing to me). I ordered 30ft of the 3.5mm and 15ft of the 6mm, a little more than the bare minimum but I'd rather end up with a little extra than not enough. Mazdatrix says you need 20ft and 8ft respectively. I also found that 2 solenoids were leaking so be sure to test your solenoids while you have them out of the car.

That's good advice about the solenoids. Also be sure to inspect the check valves - they can get a little brittle over time.

A good source of hose(*) is McMaster-Carr (google it). You can also pick up check valves and high temp zip-ties from them. Buy more hose than you need, you'll always find uses for it later.

Good luck,

-b

(*) M-C is pretty much a good source of everything. :-)

Yeah, definitely replace the check valves. They aren't expensive and it's cheap insurance.

Here's another option for the hose and check valves.

I used to get everything from Hose Techniques, but since they never seem to have anything in stock I use boostcontroller.com. Their hose is thick walled so it does not collapse and they have the oddball 3.5mm size that is most commonly used on these cars.

+1 for boostcontroller.com - I really need to get a mod to let me edit my vacuum hose thread, I constantly get emails on where to get vacuum hose.

Hose Techniques might as well be out of business at this point, don't bother with them.

Not sure on the hose from McMaster-Carr, but personally I would go with boostcontroller.com first. You need VERY thick walls on silicone hose to keep them from kinking in tight bends.

For check valves, I still sell the Viton check valves, PM me for information.

Shout out to Mazda

Super generous with the quantities and came with a cigar cutter for cutting the hose (great idea, btw).

Those kits (similar to what HoseTechniques offered) has WAY too much hose. There's no reason to drop $170 on silicone hose. I normally get 20 feet of 3.5mm and 10 feet of 6mm, that's plenty. No reason to do the windshield washer hose and all that other crap.

That's $20 for the 3.5mm and $20 for the 6mm, $40 total, from boostcontroller.com.

I checked out boostcontroller website. I went to silicone and clamps then vaccumn hose, if that is right what brand are you choosing from there? Believe choices are turbologic, samco, and turbosmart.
Trying to hold off on doing it but just want to go ahead and get it since i found this thread.

Another option would be, a board member buy the hoses and ship them to me

Sounds great. Could you ask him to ship to Germany?
20m for what?
I tought approx 30ft of 3.5mm and 20ft. of 6mm are enough to replace all hoses.

Sorry, was a bit early in the moring for me to write before i got my coffee.

I ordered 30ft of vacuum hose (just checked my email history), and that should be about 10m of hose. When i was done with my car, i had 10cm left. So i would add a couple of meters of hose just to be sure you have enough.

So yeah, i would order more than 30ft. If you have other cars, having some spare hoses is good.

I havent spoken to my shipping guy for a while so im not sure if he is doing it anymore. Anyways i would think that some people on here could help. Its also recommended that you change the check valves while at it, and if you buy them from Dale, he might be able to help with the hoses

Alright, nice to know. So then I will order a few ft more.

Bought the check valves from Dale know. Unfortunately he's not comfortable with buying the hoses for me.
Will see the next days if I find someone who helps me.

Looked at you're shop but you only have 3.2mm hoses and only on a 50ft roll.
