HE'S GOT A 15 YEAR BADGE FOR CHRIST SAKE
That said if you ask the hive what they think the hive will respond which is why we all love the hive. Don't hate the hive, love the hive, the hive is good
Most importantly have fun with the build, start a build thread and keep us informed etc....

The hive is a fickle beast, equal parts humility and egotism, compassion and selfishness. But in the end, things always just seem to work out.
Oh, I'm going to have a great time! Maybe, just maybe Fritz, I'll see you at VIR this year. We've met there before you know.

Hope it works out for you.
Personally, I think it'd be kind of fun to start from scratch on a car..... that is if one has the funds and the willpower.
Seems like you have both, so I am subscribing to see how this turns out.

Honestly - I wish you luck. BUT, even your opening statements seem a bit optimistic ("The good part is there shouldn't be much expense for parts")... I'm just trying to play out a scenario you will experience in the real world. Oh, and expect that to happen at LEAST three times.
Maybe none of this is news to you. Maybe you know best. Maybe you just don't want to hear it. Whatever the case... good luck.

One day you too shall achieve the 15 year badge....
I always encourage people to spend all their money on their car projects. That way I don't feel the shame knowing I'm the only one.
I will have you know it took me a long time to earn that badge. Don't envy my badge lol

My rotary experience goes back to 1981. Before forums, before the internet...almost before you. Maybe I should have a 35 year badge. Regardless, it leaves about a 50/50 chance of this resurrection having a happy ending.

O K, tripping down memory lane...
i made the decision to switch from racing piston engines to rotaries in the middle of the 82 season. i bought Roger Mandeville's IMSA winning (79 & 81) RX3sp in Nov of 82 and he converted it to SCCA GT3 specs for the 83 season.
here's a pic of my first win w it at a BlackHawk Farms National...

GT3 at the time specified 13 inch wheels and unibody. by the time i finished w the car the rules had changed to tube frame etc.
the front brake discs were off the Tyrell (6 wheel) F1 car so we could pack a lot of stopping power behind the 13 inch wheel. nevertheless the car was in this pic your basic leaf spring shitbox. but it was better than the other shitboxes thanks to the motor.
the lap record i set at Road America that year (83) was about 4 seconds slower than my lap in 89 even though the SCCA reduced the Weber venturi from 50 mm to 38.
same year at the Runoffs at Road Atlanta. my favorite track.

keeping a factory Toyota and a Nissan in my rear view mirror

a year or two later w a different chassis under the Brainerd lap record and winning from the pole. rotary power at the fastest track is a good combo

of course most of you know i like to over--engineer, sometimes it actually works... here's the car in its' last year (89). nothing is left of the original but the roof and front window. literally. and it was supersonic.
here's the June Sprints pace lap. we run w GT1 and GT2. the Camaro on my left (that i out-qualified) is a tube frame V8 TransAm car and Road America has 3 long straights within its 4 mile lap... i am packing 259 flywheel Daryl Drummond hp.

i am as interested in my car today as i was in these pictures.
it is a dangerous and terminal wonderful disease. i recommend.
Go for it Ryan and thanks for your part in the forum.

You guys are a hoot. Except the ones with the bunched panties.
I really look forward to the progress.... hope to see this one back on the road soon. Kinda the Rotary Version of "Graveyard Cars." Maybe Graveyard Carx?
