Easiest solution would be to take it to a shop and have it run up on a dyno.
Yoshi wants the car on April 17 and says the overhaul will take 4-6 weeks. BNRs will probably be here in 3 weeks or so. In late June we could have the car back with the BNRs installed. After that, maybe a "gentle" dyno run to check AFRs.
huh? I thought NepTune Speed had an inhouse dyno... In fact here is a picture from yelp tittled: Master Yoshi tuning my FD. March 12, 2015.

Did he had it removed?

Good idea... I'll see if I can find one around here somewhere.

The new engine will likely require a "break in" period. In my case, they said no boost and keep it under 4000 rpm for several hundred miles.
I dont think they will be putting it on the dyno until it's fully broken it

Yoshi definitely has an in shop dyno and he's an excellent tuner. He's tuned 2 of my friends cars. He tunes on the conservative side but both cars feel factory when driven. One is a single t3 35r and the other is still on twins. Both about 350whp. Yoshi will tell you if you need anything else done to run those turbos, all in time
. I'd have yoshi tune my car but he doesn't do adaptronic.

Yet Another Update
The 99-spec turbos arrived today. Day after tomorrow we are taking our FD to Yoshiya for overhaul. I have a new set of OMP lines from Ray Crowe, and have also packed in the FD's trunk my Viton hose supply (just in case). In 4-6 weeks it should be done. Yoshi says as long as the cat converter is OEM (hey, this is California) there should not be a problem with these turbos. (He also said that if they were BNRs, the engine would run lean under boost in 4th and 5th gears with the OEM PCME.) So I'm glad I switched to the 99-spec units.

So what happened to the BNR'S that you ordered?
So I canceled the BNR order and bought the 99-spec units, allowing me to leave everything else stock (according to Yoshiya and others on this forum). $490 more, but avoids more $$ and probably much hassle later, which I don't need.
Where did you source viton hose? I can't find it in good sizes, with good wall thickness.
1) 15 ft length of "High Temperature Viton Rubber Tubing Firm, 1/4" ID, 1/2" OD, 1/8" Wall, Black" - Part Number 5119 K49 - Unit price: $11.29/ft
2) 50 ft length of "High Temperature Viton Rubber Tubing Firm, 1/8" ID, 3/8" OD, 1/8" Wall, Black" - Part Number 5119 K48 - Unit Price: $6.84/ft
The fit of the 1/8" Viton tubing on the FD's hard tubing is tight. OEM ID is 3.5 mm, 1/8" = 3.175 mm, but in general this was not a problem.
The fit of the 1/4" Viton tubing on the FD's hard tubing is slip-fit. OEM ID is 6 mm, 1/4" = 6.35 mm, which in many cases required plastic tie-wraps to secure an air-tight fit.
I have had absolutely no trouble from my vacuum hose replacement job. Same hoses are still there at 113 K miles and 15 years later - job was done at 72652 miles on odometer. I even repaired a broken OMP plastic line with the 1/8" Viton, which has lasted since 2009. (But at this overhaul I am replacing both OMP lines!)
Hope this helps.
just want to say good call on switching to 99 turbos. It would be a big leap to go with the BNR's in the sense that you were used to the turnkey nature of stock ECU and now you have all this new complexity going on.

Glad to see all the love/$$$ spent on rebuilding this great car.
When it's all said and done please let everyone know what your total invested is as that will help others with the question of rebuilding or selling.

Yoshi sent that engine is now disassembled and he is checking parts. (05/09/2017)
He reports:
He reports:
I'm still cleaning the parts and inspecting. but visually I notices both rotor housings and one of side housing are bad.
Both rotors, front and rear side housing and e-shaft are looks ok but still need to inspect.
So at least you need new both rotor housings and side housing (intermediate housing).
Also I will recommend to replace E/G harness.

^Given mileage and age I'm not surprised. Consider picking up a brand new Mazda crate engine, Ray Crowe tells me he has been selling quite a few of them lately
Agreed, and I believe Rotary Reliability and Racing has some brand-new engines as well, although I can't recommend them for the work.
order new one from either Ray or IRP $5k or less you get a brand new small block down to the last bolt .
also if you need a brand new OEM clutch kit , I happen to have a set just sitting at yoshis shop ... I can hook you up
I think yoshi might have mention it already. if not. there you go

Update Once Again
I sent a previous message that somehow disappeared from the Forum, so here it is again:
Based on Yoshiya's display of our FD's engine, which needed both rotor housings and the intermediate housing replaced, in addition to some other stuff, I decided to buy a new "short block" from Mazda. Yoshiya ordered it from Ray Crowe. Attached below is a pdf listing of all the needed parts and labor charges. I did add a little to it, but it's nearly a final firm quote. Adam C's estimate in post #93 was eerily close! And hopefully, per Fritz Flynn's post #91, this listing will help others predict a similar pricing for their car.
