RX-Vision (Vision pronounced in Japanese BiJin "beautiful lady").
Quite appropriate.
Only thing I don't like is the modern car safety necessity of the high waistline and resulting low greenhouse.
Otherwise it is a beautiful looking 2 seater RX-8 (front seats removed and cabin moved back).
edit- I love how behind the front wheel is cut out on the concept. I have wanted this on a car since seeing the RX-792P race car. (ofc originated on the '67 Cosmo Sport) I don't know how that will make it to production with how badly it throws road debris. Most likely looking at it they will use more inset wheels/tires on the production model that are completely behind the lower front and rear wheel arch areas.
Perhaps that is what Mazda means by "not a concept car, but not quite the production model."

Looks like Mazda is using its newly patented production quality vinyl wrap instead of paint as well!
Not so apparent in this image, but here and the unveil vid.

Nobody sees anything wrong with the fender arches, or lack thereof?...and the doors? No flowing lines at all....it's completely flat.
It literally does resemble a Chrystler Crossfire too.
There aren't nearly enough body lines and angles to it. It's incredibly...vanilla.
Only thing I like is the front-side profile:
I'm not happy.

but you like the FD? the FD is a classic because its just a simple shape that's uncluttered, and there is a long tradition of great cars like this, E type Jaguar, or if you want to go prewar, the pic is a Delahaye, and trust me, in person it is jaw dropping.

RX-Vision has C R A Z Y curves! What are you smoking?
Reminds me of the Jaguar XKE Coupe family car from when I was a little kid.
Same 106.3" wheelbase as RX-8 106.4" wheelbase. It really is like 2 door/2 seat RX-8.
The 16X could be completely behind the front wheel, not just behind the front wheel center line. If they can keep the weight to the projected 2,600lbs it will re-define production car handling.
Let us pray the stroker 16X ***** out some torque.

A lot of the design ques of the main body really remind me of an S2000.
Dat ~12 degree sloping rear, smooth lines, rear valence, etc. Sex in a wind tunnel.
The only thing I don't like is the apparent lack of a clutch pedal. If it doesn't come in manual I won't buy it.

If they can keep the drama with production proportions, it's a stunner. Love the sculpted curve in the door, love the updated rif on the FD tail lights... that hood is awfully long, and the front fenders are very shallow over the wheel, but I'm happy thus far.
Very few cars have fewer "body lines and angles" than an FD. If that's bad, I don"t want to be good.

Iunno guys , honestly I think that those new lines aren't that bad, front end is better than Mazda3 09...haha I like the new mazda6,they made progress.
Rear end tho...round led lights is a beautiful touch ,I love it , but the shape of her ***...not too much it makes me think of a Corvette & Viper , I mean nothing wrong there , simply not my style , even an stock FD without OEM wing
and a rear diffuser, from the back...bofff
Reminds me of my boss's new car...
but in the end,Im still in shock this is happening, omg.

No, Mazda says it is not a concept, but the show car is not quite the production version.
I am thinking the wheels will be inset so the front and lower parts are covered.
It's a concept. If and when it ever gets produced, i'm sure it will have doors and fenders and other functional crap
It has doors, it has fenders, it has cameras for rear view mirrors. It just needs ~40mm less offset on the wheels to fit production standards.
