Question for 99 Spec Wing Owners

I am prepping a car for a race series that has limitations on the wing chord length and height and would like to confirm that a 99 Spec wing will work before purchasing. The wing element may be no higher than 8" off of the mounting surface on the hatch and the chord length (front to back) cannot exceed 8". Can anyone provide measurements to validate if this wing is legal?

No way it's 8 inches tall. More like 5 to 6. The wing width is probably about the same if not less. lol Sorry for the completely worthless post. If no one steps up to measure though, I''m 99% sure you'll be alright.

Have you thought about removing it? I can't imagine it does much as far as downforce goes. May as well get rid of the drag.

If I run an OEM 99 wing, it should be legal by the way the rule is written, but if I use a replica like the VIS, it must be in compliance to the rules. With a large front splitter, I think I will need some rear downforce for fear of being aero loose at high speeds. Drag will not be an issue and the 99 spec wing has data to back up that it produces significant downforce on the most extreme attack angle.

BC Wonderwing about the wing.

Wing stands 5" of the rear middle tail light at the middle point. Wing blade is 7 7/8" in the centre and gets a bit narrower towards each end. Side wing supports are just under 8" as measured above the taillamps. This is rough measure I just made on my car.

I think it's VIS, I've had it so long I forgot. It's made of fiberglass mounts and CF wing.

I've never seen an OEM one to compare but I like how mine fits other than a mild distortion of the mounts when tightening the bolts/nuts.

I had to reseal it after a few years because water started to seep into the hatch.

If it is a ViS- I was part of the original GB that kicked that off and we had to provide a donor OEM wing. The idea was to have a replica OEM wing that was much more economical and with the option of having a CF center piece.

I would like to add this, I bought my replica on Ebay from a seller RocketZ from Canada, it was under $300 shipped.

I'm very happy with how it looks and fit, adjustable just like the real thing. Only thing that looks different is end cap covers are just slightly changed. The hardest part was drilling into the hatch.
