So I recently purchased a KBD 99spec front bumper, for a good price, which is made of polyurethane. My concern is that it seems pretty flimsy. I have a 92 fd with a 99 oem front bumper, but I don’t have any of the support, which I believe consists of the foam and rebar. So I guess my question is, if I get it painted and mounted, will it be flimsy enough to where it will warp too much and crack the paint while driving? Or are they usually pretty stable once installed? Thanks!

 

i also have a poly front 99spec bumper.
under hot summer days you will notice where it mounts to the rad support, it will start to droop down.
you will want to make some support brackets for the bottom of the lip to prevent that.
if you have a under shield that ties in that will also help.

I haven’t personally put it on yet, previous owner said 9/10 fitment, and they’ve gotten a lot of good reviews as far as fitment so I’m hoping pretty well lol

 

Did you also get the front lip with it too? My KBD + Lip gets delivered on Wednesday. Really excited to dive in!

 

Yes I did get it! I’m not 100% sure I’m gonna use it tho, it’s just a tad more aggressive than stock, but ultimately I was after stock R1 look without the license plate

I have a KBD bumper. Installed an R1 lip and it helped stiffen it up. Then I revisited and properly installed the undertray by bolting it together with the lip to the bumper and now everything is nice and rigid.

 

Can anyone comment on the KBD bumper fitment and install time? Do have any pictures of the fitment.

 

Anyone have pictures of one of these yet? I have a wavy 93 front bumper and car is going to get painted. Plan to either go with one of these or get the least aggressive shine offering (burnout or sanai).

 

I installed my KBD replica this winter. Waiting on bodyshop to take the car to paint.
Fitting is not bad I think.. but I dont have experience with other bumpers.
Worst angle is like all aftermarket bumper.. when you look at it from the front, very low, you can see a gap with the hood.
Not perfect, but we'll see when it comes back from the bodyshop.

I tried looking for your ig and couldn’t find it. I kno this was a bit ago so wanted to see if you or anyone else has an update on the figment of these bumpers cause I’m coming up with mixed reviews

If you look in there you'll see the initial fitment. It's not bad, but definatly not perfect. Someone local here run it as is.. it's not too bad once painted... but definatly not good for OCD people lol
My car is currently in the bodyshop. Bodyshop had to fill in the gap with the hood and adjust the ones with the popups for it to be perfect.
He also took liberty to reinforce it with stainless rebar along the hood line from inside.
Really looking forward to see it painted !
