I just looked in the Japanese parts manual and the bodywork manual. Could not find reference to wheel colour. There is a cross reference table for paint colours, which includes the actual mix of paint codes that make up each colour. But again, only for body paint.

Mazda has never published paint codes for any of its wheels or trim. Only body colour.

You can get a paint shop to use a spectrophotometer to try and colour match it.

I went to a speciality paint supplier for local autobody shops. They had hundreds af samples of "metallic silver".

I wonder who the actual supplier of Mazda wheels was at the time?

Maybe there is a Ferrari paint code?

I just had a centerline wheel done locally. The match was terrific. Wheel is a Centreline Mag-R

Is there a chance the paint code might actually be on the wheel?

Refinished Speedline SL 1157 Mag-R 17 x 9JJ

that is an answerable question! Mazda had several suppliers for wheels, there will be a mark on them somewhere.
There is one called TOPY, U Mold, Hitachi, and Enkei, which made mostly miata wheels.

I saw on Facebook someone made replica 99 spec wheel caps, I think he is also a member here. He might have the paint code or something close to it because they were so well made you couldn't even tell the difference between the OEM and replica caps.
