Lots of threads on premix. I don't know if anyone has found one that's substantially better than others.
Lucas is a good brand, it should be fine.

All these YouTube rotary guys like the Idemitsu, but that stuff is pricey. I'm just getting my car running, so I'd like an answer to this question. I'll buy Idemitsu, if the price difference equates to better performance or being better for the engine. If Lucas is just as effective, I'll see no reason to spring for Idemitsu.

Idemitsu is good stuff for sure, it's engineered just for rotary premix. Is it better than other stuff? Hard to say.
The real answer as to which is full-on the best for the RX-7 is an answer that is out of reach. You'd need to do some serious chemistry and experiments to properly answer that question.
That said, a good name brand premix will do fine. I don't think any of them are going to be harmful or anything.

Agree. Last I search...but it’s been a while, I could find no longitudinal study data documenting how the rotary specific stuff (Idemitsu or Protec R) were better. I’m confident they’re good, but is it just marketing? Are they better than name brand low-ash 2-cycle enough to justify the holy hell purchase price:..plus the cost of shipping?
