Looking at an fd on autotrader for possible purchase
Looking at an fd on autotrader for possible purchase
Hey guys I've recently seen a 94 fd in Virginia for sale for 20,500. Vr, looks like a touring 55k original engine. Spoke with the owner who has had the car for the past 20 years. He knew the two previous owners and has all his receipts for work/maintenance done. Put 30,000 miles on the car in his 20 years. All stock and drives well according to the seller. Ac, heat, gauges work. No accidents. Touch up of the faded red paint in certain spots. He said it looks really good from 30. Planning to see it and compression test it. Does the price seem right if everything checks out compression wise ?Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the all the input. I have been checking out the for sale section for a few months now and been reading Fritz's "How to value your fd "thread. From what I've seen this car should be maybe a little lower. Any more comments appreciated.

On any FD with over 40k miles I'd probably stay away from bone stock cars unless the deal was right because the mileage is too high to really be a collector yet the price is fairly high because of the mileage LOL. Also the more expensive wear items like turbos could be on their way out. AND even the smaller things like plastic end tanks on the radiator or the AST could begin leaking etc...etc..etc....
This is a perfect example of a good deal on what looks like a nice FD (notice it sold in a few days): https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...uring-1115823/
With all that said it really depends on what you are looking for. In other words if I was in the market for a lower mileage bone stock VR PEP I'd make the guy an offer. Best of luck with your search
Thanks for all those who stopped by and gave comments. I really appreciate it. I'll let you guys know what happens.

One thing overlooked by many folks, if the car you are looking at has be garaged since day one (like mine
) the interior bits and dashboard electronics are pristine which is nice since most of that stuff is no longer available. Did I mention the original paint is in better shape than when it rolled off the showroom floor? And, no it is not for sale, its a hobby not transportation.

Fritz you are such a pessimist. Says the guy with the 45k mile car, methodically replacing bushings, radiators, power steering tanks, fuel pressure regulators, hoses, solenoids, speakers...
