and since the super gt cars have to be some version of road cars (I'm not 100% sure though) i think they worked some thing out to release the race version first get hype behind the car and then release the street version.

There is no long term market for the LF-A, its a one time deal, sorta like the enzo or f-50. Very limited production and Lexus didn't make any money off of them. As the Top Gear guys said "its an engineer's wet dream."

the looks of the C6Z come second to function. The C6R and the C6 were built almost along side each other, Chevy used Pratt and Millers design, not the other way around. They wanted a design that was tried and tested in race situations. I love the lines of the C6 much better than any other car mass produced today, the only reason they won't stand the test of time is because there are just to many, but by that time there will be another vette that will continue to dominate.
During my life the looks of the corvette has always been the same with one exception the early shorter smaller c3 where all the sections of the car jelled together but they quickly ruined that w/ the later c3. Then followed c4,5 and 6 all which all had certain qualities you could admire at first glance because of there brash design characteristics but the cars always seem like 3 or more different sections of the car are yelling something different that leave me confused and eventually uninterested.
Maybe one day Chevy will design a car that drives like a Porsche with the looks of the c1, a high revving v8, gauges that don't make me feel like I'm in a truck only with more digits and everyone will be happy.

Looks are subjective really. But looks shouldnt really be based on rarity. The AMC delorean is rare but its ugly as hell. The F50 is ugly as sin and thats rare as well. I dont care how amazing the engineering of that car is, its butt *** ugly.
Thats why i honestly believe the FD community is soo f'ed mainly because of the owners who bought them bought them SOLEY for LOOKS. And didnt really care about what it can do. Im just saying what i believe, generally speaking.
Maybe the owners had no idea how to properly set up a running FD, that they just poured money into it trying to suit their needs and it kept breaking. But never really wanted to sell it because the car looked good, til they finally had no more money left to fund the project and had to sell.
When i go cruising with my friend with the supra. My car gets more looks. When we park at a rest stop, more people come to my car and talk, and really forget about his. Now his car is a well maintained MKIV supra, NA-T. So its not just a regular bone stock supra.
But usually when i talk to people who ask about my car, i usually get the same reactions after i tell them its "just a mazda", which is, "oh cool". Then they walk away. When i get those looks, its because they see a rare car, not because they believe its anything special. They see red, they see sports car shape, they hear loud sound and they break their neck.
There are very few times when i actually had people say they loved my car, because they remember it from back in the day. A couple of weeks ago i was at a rest stop and this SUV pulled up where i was parked and he was staring at us smiling. Him and his wife. He parked his car and came to talk to us. He walked past the MKIV and went straight to my car and was like, "Its been SOOO long since i've seen this car!!!". lol it was pretty funny but then he started to talk about this Z32 he has that he's working on blah blah. He was a cool dude. Very rare you find people who like the car FOR THE CAR, NOT because that it looks rare.

I don't think you understand what I'm saying. You're right looks are subjective but if I see a vette at a show or gathering and a Delorean, I can tell you right now. I will definitely stop by the Delorean and will probably ignore the vette. This is not due to looks but due to the opportunity to see something I don't see very often. I've seen vettes around. I've only seen 5 Deloreans in person. If you look at the context with which I replied, I think you would understand what I said better.

All the LF-A's are already sold I believe, they are indeed VERY limited production. They had three testing(and I think shooting a commercial) at Infineon Raceway for a full week ~2 weeks ago, and let me say, they were everyone's wet dream.

People see a car and get attracted because of RARITY.
That has nothing to do with looks though.
If i saw a dude juggling tennis ***** on the sidewalk of NYC, you can be sure ill stop and watch him, and im sure he will draw a small crowd as well. lol
Why though? Its just a dude juggling *****. My cousin can do it. But its RARE and not often seen, especially in this context so thats why the attraction.
Doesnt mean its anything special.
Seems like rarity is a big thing with ownership for FD's. Not really because of the car itself, which is also what i said.
You even said it yourself you like the NSX because vettes are a dime a dozen.
So basically you would pick an NSX over a C6Z strictly because its more rare??

NSX is similar, but most I've seen over the past 15+ years, they been pretty much the same (except last Nov.). Most of the time, its pretty much the same from one to the other.. Yes, they are rare, but most are similar inside, outside, and engine.
FDs, like I stated before, 60+ of them could be lined next to each other and all of them are different.. I tend to look at them and spend my time, even though some might be completely done wrong..

The Z blows the NSX right out of the water; side, front, back, right side up, upside down, inside out - only way the NSX can hold a candle is with a wide body kit (saw a few on-line) and fat wheels/tires, otherwise forget it, the vette is far more muscular and menacing looking - and it absolutely destroys the NSX power-wise. Yes, the NSX may grab a few more lookers because it is rare, but this again goes back to the image/ego factor, which is a lame reason to own a performance car imo, and no one except die-hard Honda fanbois really give a rip if you have a rare $35k 90s sports car anyway, let's get real.
Fritz, I think your comment about the rear of these cars stems from the fact that it looks like someone hacked off the back end too abruptly

On just looks alone I prefer the C6Z06. With that said, if I saw an NSX and C6Z06 parked together in a parking lot I know that I would pay a lot more attention to the NSX due to its rarity. But if I was handed to the keys to both cars and was asked to pick one it be the chevy. No question.
Ok Rob, I looked at my original post and I see where what you saying is coming from. Let me fix it for you...
Anyway having said that...

Its funny though, if I went to an NSX show I'd probably be really bored after a while since most of them are probably pretty close to stock.

And yes I agree nsx do much look the same when you do see one.

I personally think the C6 Z looks best in black partially because it hides all of the weird angular body lines. Now dont get me wrong, Im a huge C6Z fan, and its on my short list of next cars to own. I think once the '08+ car start dipping into the ~$35k range I'm going to pull the trigger on one, but its because of the performance the car packs, not the looks. Its not a "bad" looking car, but IMO alot of the parts look "stick-on", especially the front and rear brake vents. Some parts of the car are curvy while others are angular, and for me it just doesnt work all they great. Different stokes I suppose, but if we are still having this NSX vs C6Z argument, the NSX (albeit it does need some aftermarket wheels and a drop) is the better looking car by far.

WOW it's a beauty and menacing is an understatement.
Judging by that obnoxious hood there's likely a super charger under that bonnet and whats worse than a low RPM loud thumping/large displacement V8, one with a super charger wining in the back round.
That car has more crazy lines, vents, angles, bumps, humps and dips than a star wars space ship.
Again it's saying a helluva lot but I don't understand it and when the yelling is all over I'll wonder why I paid any attention at all.
I've thought about owning a c6z and c5 for years because of the undeniably fantastic road course performance but this car exemplifies everything I don't like about them. I know it's my own psychological issues but no way would I ever feel comfortable stepping out of that car. Thanks goodness for the batman tint.
PS however possibly in 10 years I'll like it the same sort of way that I appreciate the early c3s but my gut says I won't.

When I give the big block a go it will be in this http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...acr/index.html
I can live with the looks because it completely matches what the car offers from top to bottom, in and out, it's just RAW. The Vette just seems to leave me confused and bewildered.
PS The c6 interior is not doing a thing for me. Keep it simple, have some purpose, how many times does every single car magazine have to bitch about the seats before they get a clue atleast for the Z cars CHRIST ALMIGHTY hehe, and flippen electronics............ Push button this, digital that, BIG RPM and MPH little other things figure out your mission and then build the damn car around it...BLAH BLAH BLAH
PSS AGAIN I respect the vettes and maybe I'm this frustrated because I'd like to own one but can't live w/ the nonsense.
