Crazy times and not the time to sell unless you have something important you can use the money for or buy without the car being a very good deal. Right now at 33k I don't consider this car a good deal much less a great deal so I'm fascinated for sure with this auction

Did anyone else notice the oil leaking from the pictures on the white one on BAT? Is that normal? Also the repainted front bumper kind of has a different shade when looking at different angles. It will probably sell for 37-38k.

Are you new to the FD world? That is likely the least amount of oil you will see dripping from an original engine FD with 4X,XXX miles.

The ODO thing plus the CYM listing might put a stop on the CW bid?

15K miles on a CYM... If i were the seller, I would take it off bat and return that baby back to to stock. Seems easy enough as they are just light mods but IMO it is going to cost him thousands in the auction. Now if the car had above 35K miles then those mods wouldn't hurt the value (or as much) as it would be truly a driver's car at that point.

Edit- now that I've been schooled on the true mileage. Nevermind haha

TMU means true mileage unknown.

The seller updated in the comments with this:

You’re correct @kplima07 the odometer/speedometer has been replaced. The chassis sits at 155,xxx

its also in the paragraph of the listing, whether that was there from the jump I dunno

"The speedometer was reportedly replaced around 140k miles, and the odometer now shows 15k miles, approximately 1k of which were added by the seller. True mileage is unknown"

In the description and was just addressed in the comments by the seller

From Mazda? I don't know if Mazda still carry them now but that was a command fix back then, they put a label on the back of the cluster to state the chassic mileage at the time of the ODO swap.

I didn't notice the high chassic mile on the CYM, so I guess that won't affect the CW bid lol.

New OEM odometer assemblies were (maybe still are) available. You can change them out.

Not to mention there's a major difference between white and yellow

Whoever placed the 33333 bid wants a CW base and he could very well win it with that bid. That's 35k after fees on the nose which IMO isn't too shabby.

Can't wait to see how the sales goes. Hopefully it sells for 50k hehe

Both nice/rare color, I can go either way

Great buying opportunity for folks who made a killing on stock in recent weeks, potential lower price and less competition.

Someone really wanted a CW base (white is clearly still THE color). Again though this is what DJ and I worked so hard to convince certain people of. It's all about model, year and color.

I watched the long walk around video and the only reason this car sold for 45k is because it's a white base. Great job by the seller esp considering all the hassle he was given over BS. FDs don't age well unless the owner is super meticulous, so it is usually easy to tell a low mileage vs a high mileage car. I can't wait to see a super low mileage base or R2 come up for auction. May very well sell for 75 to 100k.

How much you think it would’ve fitch for without the ODO drama and a bit better timing?

Sold very well at $43,750

Clearly color and year makes the most difference. Model (trim)... meh... Why? As all prior data fails to point that trim has any real impact on price. In the past, I categorized all prior BAT sales based on the year/trim/mileage and there wasn't any correlation to point that trim matters (as a whole) to those that are putting in the $$. The biggest impact is mileage for sure. Followed by year and last color. Noting that white FD's automatically check off the color and year categories.

This is what I am talking about:
Here we have two cars that sold a month apart (very important as they were sold under the same economic times): A 93 CYM vs a 94 White TOURING with similar miles.

38k-Mile 1993 Mazda RX-7 R1
SOLD FOR $37,300 ON 10/3/18
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1993-mazda-rx-7-41/

29k-Mile 1994 Mazda RX-7 Touring
SOLD FOR $40,001 ON 9/3/18
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1994-mazda-rx-7-17/

The white took the win with a 7% margin. Obviously trim made no difference when put up against color and year.

The interesting/cool thing about BAT is that there, it is the buyer that places how much value a car has. Not the seller telling a buyer that they want more money for a certain feature. Nope in BAT, the bids clearly reflect the desirability of the car.

Here's a 94 R2 with a "story" also listed on BaT https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1994-mazda-rx-7-40/

What is general consensus on this one?
