Yesterday when I picked up my 93 FD at the shop after getting the speedometer checked, the service manager remarked there was another red RX-7 like mine in the parking lot. When I looked at it I found a pristine 1993 vintage red R1. The paint was absolutely perfect, but I could not find anywhere that showed the 30 year old car was repainted. The license plate was "600R1" . I went back and talked to the service manager about the car. He had some notes on the service order. The car was owned by the original owner. It was the 600th RX-7 to come off the assembly line. It had over 300k miles and was on its third engine. The car had not been modified in any way, except for the dealer-installed replacement engines. The owner maintained it like it was his baby and had stored it in a heated garage the last couple years. This was an example of someone who appreciated the RX-7 and treated the car with respect.
