Finding parts...

Finding parts...
I've been through the FAQs, searched, and went through the sponsors sub-forums. Where are people buying parts these days? Some of the links in the FAQs are dead/out of business or websites haven't been updated in like 5-10 years. I just started a FD project and I'm looking for the top 5-10 websites that have all the various parts to get an FD running. This can be anything from fuel pumps to new hoses to an OEM Headlight assembly (motor and all). My local Mazda dealer said a good amount of OEM stuff is no longer available and even though places like Jim Ellis Mazda show a full parts fiche online, many of what they offer is no longer available. He said they'll take your order online...and then call you later and say that part isn't available.
I'm starting to wonder if getting this FD back to OEM as close as possible (minus the twin turbo setup -- I'll stick with single) is probably pipe dream.
I know Atkins Rotary has some stuff, but their website is dated and very inaccurate (says they have 900 fuel tanks...I called...they have 6). So where are all the cool kids shopping these days outside of our parts sub-forum and "flea"Bay?

Call or e-mail Ray Crowe, he is THE OEM RX-7 parts "guru". Even though Malloy closed he is still selling OEM parts and if you tell him what you're looking for chances are he already knows the number by memory. You can e-mail him at crowe.ray@aol.com or call him at 703-785-5554.
There are also plenty of good used parts seller's here for things that are NLA or generally not worn out, there is usually someone parting out a complete car.

Depends on what you need.
OEM parts, Atkins and Ray Crowe are great. Ray especially since he can track parts down many times and knows these cars like the back of his hand. Atkins website is a little oddball with their parts availability thing but it's a killer reference. They also have been making things like gaskets and stuff themselves which is really awesome. REALLY good resource if you are building an engine yourself.
Amayama.com is a great way to get parts from Japan, some parts either were never available in the US, you can't get in the US any more, or are cheaper to get from Japan.
Then there's a ton of great rotary shops - IR Performance, Banzai Racing, Rotary Performance, Pettit Racing, etc. They all have some unique products and OEM/aftermarket parts.
Used there's Ebay and the classifieds here.

Nikki carberater
While rebuilding my carberater for my 82 I found that the fuel inlet is completely trashed. At this point I may need a whole rebuilt carb. Both fuel inlet bolts frozen and snapped off, fuel line snapped off. FUBAR.

Keeping Ray in "business" helps us all. As long as we continue to buy parts from him, he can maintain his magic network that continues to get us OEM parts at the very good prices he is able to do so. Bug Ray. Bug him all the time! I recently (2 weeks ago) ordered a handful of things from him at prices even Mazdatrix/Atkins/etc. cannot meet. There may be a chance that he cannot beat every price out there, but even if he is close it's still a better prospect.
