I'm the owner of that spirit r and only one left since the first one got destroyed
I'm have taken it out to clean out the dust inside it from leaving the car seating for too long.
What's the story behind this? Mazda decided the first and seventh S-R built would have the special speedometer?

I'd like to know further back story as well.. Were there any other special badges or plates besides the speedo?

I have asked Mr. Kijima-san, and he didn't know the story. He said he would ask a friend in Mazda in order to see if he knows the details. As he said: "Please wait for a while"

The yahoo listing said it was a one off customized cluster.

The owner just had a backing plate made in the same colour as a spirit R cluster on a 300km/hr speedo, then added it to an original spirit R cluster.

Bro... That's a rather clowny thing to do. The fact that you did it and then openly admit to doint it, paints quite a picture.

Test fit the downpipe before you spend $ and time coating and cleaning it.

I bough one that looked just like that (without the divots by RHD steering shaft) and it did not fit the FD. Must have been for Cosmo 13B-RE?

I really wonder what the difference the split pipes on that downpipe make. I mean, how efficient can it be given it starts at a single flange, splits, then merges again right before the cat. It would seem to me all it adds is more weight with the extra pipe and all. Correct me if I'm wrong though...

It is a very old and rare MAZDASPEED, only available from 92-94 I believe. Even my MS brochures that shows this one are rare.

I've noticed they're desirable but I haven't figured out why yet. Are people re-purposing them or do that many people care about rear washer fluid?

OEM auxiliary injection tank of substantial volume. It's well hidden with good fitment.
