^ Nice score Chris! Those sport shifters are becoming harder and harder to find.

how are those shifters? or the re-amemiya ones? are they nice, or are they just like crappy short shifter? i've never known of an aftermarket shifter that was better than stock...

I'm running the B&M and have been very happy with it's performance. Not sure why people complain a lot about shifters.

See the bottom of the label? I bet its a pretty good short shifter.

I think the complaints started when E-bay became flooded with knock off parts about a decade ago. I experienced one of these crap shifters in a FC my friend bought- GARBAGE!

I used three Mazdatrix short shifters in my RX-7s through the years and they were great- I got lucky and didn't get the rattle they mention on any application.

I did try the Mazdacomp aluminum shift bushing on the FD and it was total crap- wore out in one auto-x season. Put the stock plastic one in and its been awesome for a couple years.

Its not hard to see why the plastic one develops slop slower- it snaps onto the shifter where the aluminum one has to have some tolerance to fit on and that little slop accelerates wear as the shifter rod vibrates back and forth. /end unrelated rant

I have the MS short throw and recently found my C's and they are very very similar. I actually took my BM off and I really like the C's much better!

I'm sorry I can't tell how good a shifter feels by it's label... I never was a fan of B&M shifters on any car, however I used a C's shifter that was decent, probably the only ones I've ever liked.
Phil, how short is the throw on the MS shifter compared to stock?
Anyone have experience with the RE-A ones? (they seem fairly easy to get)

thanks

Mazda Motor Corporation Japan

I'm sorry I can't tell how good a shifter feels by it's label...

Well, a short shifter made by Mazda is going to be as good as it gets for a short shifter when trying to retain stock feel, but the fact is a short shifter works by moving the pivot point reducing the throw (and so also the leverage advantage to the user).

Therefore, even a short shifter made by Mazda to the same standards as the stock Mazda shifter will feel more notchy than stock due to reduced leverage.

Then again you will have tons of people telling you how crappy their Mazdaspeed short shifters are because they bought knock offs on Ebay....

I'm currently using RE-A shifter.
I bought boot along with aluminum shifter bushing from mazdatrix.
It feels stiff when going 1st and 2nd.
I'm going to change the bushing back to oem and see if it changes.
It's only .5 in shorter I believe, and I like it.

Guys, the RE-A isn't really a short shifter..... the shift **** sits lower, but the throw is the same as stock. Had one for like two days before taking it off the car.

Very happy with my authentic early-version (sits the **** lower) Mazdaspeed short shifter

That thing is cool. Any earlyish jdm bumper with custom combo lights(intact!) is pretty rare. All the newish ones use the 99specs.

ha, so it was YOU I was in a bidding war against.

I put in so many bids, it finally just told me what your max bid was, and I said screw it. I think your max was 76000, and they're only 80000 new..
