FD RARE PARTS (rare defined)
If so, why? Was there some claimed advantage to adding extra material to the vehicle?
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but that looks to be a replica re-amemiya gauge cluster, almost as if someome took white faces and screen printed the re-amemiya logo on the tach.

Does it have any safety features that I don't see that would inspire more confidence?
. The nice part about it is it's mobile you can pull it where you need it but forget about pushing the dam thing you can't get enough leverage to move it. It doesn't raise the car high enough to stand under it only goes up 48", i guess if you're a midget you could stand under it.It has a locking mechanism just like any lift you have to pull a lever to release a lock then you can lower it.

I remember this setup a long time ago. Its the Rx7 Fashion FMIC. You could tell by the piping. I remember back then not many people had it and it was hard to find. Not to mention it was expensive.
I duno if M2 stuff are hard to come by now a days either but since they arent in business anymore i would guess their stuff is pretty rare?
Not sure if you guys know this, but Chuck from Rotary Extreme was the one that designed this IC back in the days before he became Rotary Extreme.
