Engine shut off either doesn't work or on a timer?

I recently just received my 95 rx7 fd3 imported from Japan. Have only been able to run the car a few times. But I have noticed that while the car is running once I turn the ignition to the off position or even pull the key out entirely the car will still run. Not sure if this my be tune related or what.

So the engine is running, you turn the key to Off and the engine keeps running?

You could have a turbo timer installed somewhere. They were super common in the '90s, they keep the car running for a preset amount of time when you turn it off to let the turbos cool down. They were a good idea on old oil cooled turbos but aren't really necessary on water cooled turbos.

Turbo timers typically hooked up between the ignition switch and the harness going to it with a pre-made car specific harness. It shouldn't be hard to remove, you shouldn't have to cut or splice anything.

Correct. I'm sure it's a turbo timer haven't had enough time to check it out. Would be nice if it's on a timer. Was a little odd though trying to turn it off and it still running ahah.

theyre usually placed somewhere kinda obvious, but look around under the steering column and stuff, may be hidden.

I had similar issues with my car when it was wet out or there was a bunch of humidity. Mine was to the point that, in England, I'd need to disconnect my battery before my 13 hour shift or risk the electrical system powering up and draining my battery while I worked. There were literally times when I'd walk out to my car at 3am, keys in my pocket, to find all my interior lights, dials, dash gauges, etc., lit up like I had the key in and car on. The body harness was in pretty bad shape and I'm sure there was a short or something causing it.

I never bothered pinpointing the problem and I've opted to just get a new harness made from scratch that will incorporate new technology/PDMs to replace the relays/fuses/switches.

If you can't find a turbo timer than I'd look to the front body/chasis harness for melting/damage as the culprit.
