key is out and car is still running

key is out and car is still running

i have a 1988 se 5 speed and when i take the key out of the ignition the car runs for about 5 seconds and then shuts off is this normal for rx7s or what. it dose not have a turbo or a turbo timer is there some thing wrong with my car piz help

yup, somethings wrong. possible weak contacts in the ignition switch is what id start with.

At least your car shuts off when you take you keys out of the ignition. I can remove the key out of the ignition while driving.

HAHA me too rotorhead87.

I was out pretending i can drift and doing donuts when my keys flew across to the other side of the car. That was pretty funny lol

I was doing donuts and same thing happened to me.
I can pull them out on 3 of my 4 cars, actually pretty useful for when you want the car running but need to run inside somewhere.

same thing here, i wont notice it though and go to park and not be able to shut the car off until i find them. i like it cause you can start the car and pop the hatch without shutting the car off (my hatch popper deal doesnt work)
