Engine Install
Looking for some tips.
Engine was pulled without transmission, work is done, and I’ve got the motor about 1” from home. My guess is the splines (trans to clutch) are not quite lining up.
I’ve raised the transmission front up as far as possible (although it appears it can go higher, something is interfering), and the motor had a hell of a time getting over the PPF. It was also hard to get out.
Do you guys drop the PPF for more clearance? Do I need to remove the interior trim pieces above the transmission?
I have a chain hoist, load leveler, and jack under the transmission, but can’t seem to get the motor low enough. Thoughts?

I think you may be misunderstanding what the PPF is. That's the Power Plant Frame, it connects the back of the transmission to the front of the rear differential.
There's the front subframe in the engine bay, that's what the engine bolts to and the suspension bolts to. There's also a thin brace right in front of the motor that the stock intercooler bolts to and the battery tray too, that easily unbolts and comes out of the way.
Typically you jack up the transmission as high as it will go. Get the engine to line up with the trans and mate with it, then drop it down onto the motor mounts.
You may want to post some pictures of what you are having a problem with.
Even on a good day it's a job to get an engine in. I typically have 2-3 friends over to help spot and work at it, even so you're typically manhandling the engine and jerking it around to get things to go in place and seat.
Also possible your clutch isn't lined up properly. Or just that you're not getting the engine straight with the trans for them both to line up.

Personal preference but I’ve had the best luck putting the engine in w/o the trans. as you’re doing. Seem to remember the engine having to tilt pretty good initially then level up a bit until it’s the same angle as the trans.But as has been said, you really need at least one other guy. One to run the lift and another underneath to help “eyeball” things.
