Installing motor and transmission

I have both the engine and the transmission out, and hope to be ready to put them back in in the next few weeks. What's the best way to do the istallation?

1) Engine, then transmission
2) Transmission then engine
3) Attach transmission to engine on the hoist, then install both thgether

Thanks,
Rich

I did a swap, once, and left the transmission in; only removing the engine. It was a royal pain in the butt to get the two to match up upon reinstallation. I've yet to do one by removing the trans with the motor, though. Clearance would be your issue, but at least you wouldn't have to struggle with trying to mate the eccentric shaft output into the trans spline like I had to!

Next time, the trans is coming out with the engine =)

Do both togehter. It is much easier to put the Trans on the engine with them out.

If you can, always do it at the same time. It saves alot of time and fustration.

Thanks guys...that's what I thought, but figured I'd validate it with those that have done it before.

I always do them together, in or out. I also have an engine tilt that makes it much easier. The hardest part of the install is cranking the tilt.

IF you're on concrete, a rolling floor jack helps under the tranny, just how I do it any way.
