I had some water coming into the passenger seat area which I thought was fixed with a new window seal/trim. It definitely holds back more water than my original that was bent under the door handle but I am still noticing water coming in when it rains. With the door panel off I can see water coming in through the access holes where the speaker goes and under the door handle mechanism. No moisture barriers are on the doors since I have aluminum panels. Is this normal and should just run moisture barriers to have the water drain out or should it be sealing the door from water intrusion?

 

Putting the moisture barriers back in should definitely help. It's hard to say much more without seeing some pictures of what you are describing though.

 

Water drips in from these two general areas...the speaker hole and the access hole in the door frame. Seems like due to the curve of the door frame it drips out into the cabin instead of into the door.

 

Based on what you are saying, installing something in a similar fashion to the stock vapor barrier on the access hole should definitely solve that problem. That is one of the reasons it is there in the first place.

The speaker hole is a little bit more confusing. I'd think if you have the oem speaker enclosure installed, it would do a good job sealing that hole. If you don't have a speaker installed, or a custom/aftermarket bracket you might have to come up with a good was to seal it a little bit too.

Of course there could be something else going on, but it sounds like the lack of any seal on these holes is your problem.

 

Thanks I figured that was the case just wanted to make sure I didn't get a faulty seal. I'm not too concerned with the speaker getting wet with my LRBspeed door panels...I have a cheap poly cone in there so if the water kills it I won't spend too much to replace until I come up with a solution in there

 

No problem. That's what it seems like to me. Someone else might pop in with another idea. As far as I know the insides of the door are known to get water in them, and thus why the cars shipped with the plastic vapor barrier there.

You could try spraying water on the seal you replaced and watching the inside of the door for any unusual/large water penetration to double check it isn't the seal you installed though. I'd also double check that the bottom of your inner door isn't covered in dirt/gunk. I don't remember exactly where they are, but if the drains in the bottom of the door are clogged that isn't going to help your situation either.
