Do the solenoids matter?

Of course they do but specifically, are the all the solenoids on the "rats nest" the same or do each of them allow air to move in different directions when operated?

I'm asking because in the process of tracking vacuum leaks, I decided to do the Banzai vacuum line simplification. While doing so, my old, brittle lines fell apart with the softest touch and so did some of the plastic nipples on some of the solenoids. Do I need to try to repair or replace the correct solenoids or can I reuse the solenoids that didn't break?

so pic is the solenoids front to rear by color and part number, the difference in the 148x-13-240A's is which port is open with it off.
you can use any of the 1480 solenoids in a spot where a 1480 solenoid is supposed to go, etc

That's incredibly helpful. Thank you so much!

Some are physically different in terms of the orientation of the nipples and adjuster* placements. I pulled 3 off when I did the sequential simplification (but didn't have a 4th for EGR since mine is a '95) photo below.

* I am making a guess on the ***** on one side of these being some sort of adjustment. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Yep. They are all the same, you can pop the little filter off and put it on a different nipple or remove entirely as the position dictates.

The filter is where the solenoid vents to atmosphere and can draw in atmospheric air so that's the reason for the tiny filter.
