Car won't start please help!

I have a 1993 fd rx7, runned as a daily, and was running fine a week ago. All of a sudden I tried to start the car and wouldn't turn. I checked the battery at a local shop and they said he battery is 100 percent, but a bad battery. I put in a new battery and still run into the same issue. I then take out the alternator and starter to have a local shop to check if it is good, and they both checkout good.

I am stumped at this point, Any advice helps, thanks.

So you turn the key in the ignition and nothing happens - just a click with no motor turning over?

Check the clutch switch, search on that. If you see mysterious pieces of rubber all of a sudden on the floor mat that could be the issue.

Good thing is it's probably a relatively simple problem.

Does the starter crank (R-R-R-R... sound) the engine, but it won't start? Or do you mean it tries to crank but the starter can't make it crank (no R-R-R-R sound)?

Did you try deflooding it? If you started and ran it for a very short time and didn't get it hot, you may have flooded it. Try cranking with the throttle floored (designed-in deflooding method - shuts off the fuel injectors) and see if it will start.

"To unflood, the quickest/easiest way is to go to the fuse box next to the battery, and pull out the fuse marked "EGI." This disables the fuelpump, so it won't keep feeding the engine fuel.

With the fuse out, crank the engine 5 X for 15 seconds a peice. Don't worry, if your battery is fine, it'll handle it. Wait the full 15 seconds.

Now, go back and put the fuse in. Try to crank it, 9 times outta 10 it should start right up, and smoke a good bit. Give the car a hard run."

is this the deflooding method?

That's what you should do if cranking with the gas pedal floored doesn't work.

If it’s really bad, you may have to pull the plugs

gave it a second try with the fuse out, crank 5x with 15sec each. Then put the fuse back in. had the gas down, clutch in, put the in and cranked......car started, thanks guys.

I agree - the light-green is corrosion, as you said, and that can't be good.

You may want to check all your fuses. In that condition, current is flowing but the corrosion may at best limit the current and at worst lead to inopportune failure of the fuse
