Bone stock R1 takes second in car show!
So just for fun this weekend I took one of my low mileage 7's to the local car show to see some neat cars. There were about 140 cars at the Garden Ridge Police Academy Association meet and they had a foreign car class so I signed in and parked amongst some really nice cars. I had a lot of fun looking around sharing the sights of rare cars and tons of money dumped into all sorts of money pits.
As I walked around I focused on the "foreign" class to see how I stacked up against the competition. After all I I wanted to see how a bone stock 19K mile all original black R1 would stack up to who knows what. As I looked around I found an 86' Mercedes, very clean, convertible but kind of blah. Next a 2013 BMW with a flat black paint job and high lights and bling. Next a Toyota Camery decked out in vinyl and NASCAR stuff everywhere. That one might be trouble and then next to it was a 2016 Ferrari. Down the line was a Porsche 356, nice but not original and very modified. A few others but not very stand out.
Long and short of the story here is I actually took second place after all. I thought the Porsche was going to be my competition given the fact it was in such great shape and the care and thought that was put into it. Now I bet you are wondering which one took first right? I was disappointed. I guess money will get you anything as they say. You guessed it, the Ferrari got it. So much for taking care of something, pampering, keeping something timeless and unmolested and fighting the urge to modify. Just go drop a bunch of coin and you too can win a car show! Ha, all in good fun. I was happy to be there and have my car be recognized actually. If you have one take it out and show it. I'm sure you all realize how rare these things are. You never know......

I was parked next to this 52' caddy. It got best in it's class.
As for the phone, I think it caused more cases of whip lash with double takes. Kinda funny to sit back and watch folks do double takes. The car looks so new to most people it's really the only thing that dates it for those that don't know what it is.

You should get the phone hooked up.
