Got some of my old bits collection out to show another member whose current car actually sported some of the pieces at some time in the past. (C-west Kit)
Oh, I might've liked them for what they were at the time. However, I wouldn't want them. They're much too big for the 7. I think 17's are perfect for the body lines and size of the car. Plus it gives extra rubber down without raising overall unsprung weight.
Cracked open one of the tuner bibles. Seems Recaro SR-II were considered an after-market alternative for FD. This makes me pleased, because I have stuffed a pair intp my car.
Yep, this style of seat was part of their Mazdaspeed line for awhile.
I personally think they're too big, and their offsets play a real havoc to the original suspension scrub wise. However, if you want it for appearance purposes, there is no better wheel. Provided you can find them...
my friend bought a set of those, in 17 i think. he got the magnesium ones too, so they were $$$$$$$ new
The next version of the catalogue (1997) said the Black and Grey colour was more suitable to Japanese tastes.
Maybe that is why it took until late 2000 to introduce the red recaros (2000 RZ).
I think they also tried to make everything look esthetically pleasing. Red Recaros would only seem correct with specific external colours. Where as the black Recaros go well with any colour...
Definitely iconic to have red Recaros with a White vehicle. As well as their dark grey or black.
Any of the brighter colours though... the black is infinitely better.
I think 17’s also leave enough sidewall for decent ride quality and a little more safety for those expensive wheels.
I completely agree, although I finally went with some 18X9.5's. Probably as much for looks and tht I hadn't ever done anything but 17's. I had to set my Ohlins pretty soft to make up for the lack of give.

Forgive me, but the camera is very deceiving. The only thing that’s carbon are the seats. Lol
I’ll tell you a little secret, the interior pieces were actually painted a metallic black colour. The camera makes it appear as if they’re carbon pieces. Lol. You’re not the first to think they are.
I think by the 3rd or 4th year of ownership, I wanted to complete the interior update I had in my mind. This was way before I even knew that Japan had these carbon film on top of the regular plastics. I always thought that was a really cheap way to go. I wanted it to appear as if the entire piece came as an upgrade. However, since my interior was textured due to it being a 94, paint would not adhere to it nice and the results would be awful. So I found someone who wanted to trade interior pieces from a 93 FD. I had a local paint guy do them in a black but give it a proper amount of metallic. This was the outcome.
About 4yrs ago I upgraded the deck to a Navi 2 din deck. I had to custom make the bezel that surrounds that center section because that hole is bigger than 2 din. I had to find out what colour they used to match the rest of the interior. My local paint guy went thru a slew of codes only to find out the colour is off a Bentley pallet. Lol
I absolutely love the interior with these trim pieces painted. About the only piece I wish I could’ve done was the center vent. That was going to be an endeavour since the entire dash had to come off. Suffice to say, I left that one alone. Lol

It looks like you did a great job on the plastics. Where can I see more of your interior?

is there anything particular you’re interested in? I don’t really have too many shots of the interior. If there’s something specific you’re curious about, I can take some pics tomorrow..
The likely parts manual to cover the bathurst wheels would be AJFA06.
The Verion 6 brochure ,which mainly covers the Spirit R, shows the Bathurst TX with it dark wheels proud. The Version 4 brochure shows two tones of the 16 "
Highpressure casting" wheels but makes no reference as to why. The Type RB Bathurst in the the brochure shows the SSM version with silver wheels. No mention of the second colour in the options pages.
Maybe the dark wheels where meant for people "in the know".
I had a set of the Spirit wheels back in the day. They were a gunmetal color and I got them from Kelvin Hiraishi along with a set of Spirit front and rear calipers and rotors. Still using the Spirit brakes.
Thanks.

Don't want to put you through any effort. If you have a picture of the dash cluster binnacle or console, that would be nice.

Thankfully had the chance to take the car out on Sunday. Let her stretch her legs a bit..
Here are some pics of the dash and the center console.
Let me know if there's anything else you'd be interested in.

Cheers,
Thanks, Neo. Very nicely done! Its a very fine black metallic? Really looks good.

Really tough to capture on camera correctly. A very nice black metallic. I forget the name exactly. I just know it by its paintcode.. lol Gotta rummage thru some old notes to find out what that code is.. lol
Stock curve is the way to go, and definitely stick with the 5 spoke design. I'm ok with the stock wheels, it's a little small to me and I like the more aggressive offset.
I like the MS lip, running that on my BB and have a spare for my VR which will have MS01 wheels.
I can't even find that many picture with the stock wheels on haha.
Is that the Mazdaspeed lip from Shine? I've had my eye on it for a while, but never actually seen one installed before.
