while swapping the behind-dash parts into my new roller i noticed the heater air "mix door" was flapping around... so i took the inspection cover off of it and discovered this:

i had already grinded it flat in this picture in an attempt to repair it, but what i'm holding is what was left over.


the attachment point at the end of the door seems to have broken off, so there is nothing for the arm to attach to.

am i going to be screwed into buying a whole new heater core box because of this?

 

Can new heater core boxes even be purchased???

I might have some close-up pictures of this stuff if you really need it, from when I refurbished all my HVAC boxes.
Any which way, it wouldn't hurt to call old Ray. Sometimes he can get stuff that you would think you would have to buy a whole part to get.
