advice needed removing instrument cluster in 3Gen 1994

I'm fumbling around the steering wheel trying to figure out how to pull the instrument panel to work the odometer problem. Would be nice if someone has done this a few times could advise what to do and what to avoid.

steering wheel clamshell
dash vent panel in door jam
screws on the bottom and side of the cluster face
open palms on top of gauge hood and pull towards yourself, hopefully it doesnt shatter

it would just be 4 screws after that to remove the cluster

^ Yup and disconnect your battery to discharge all the caps if you are doing odometer work.

Its out and on kitchen counter. Pondering its naked innocence. Looking over the basic circuitry. Nothing grossly out of expectations.
