Word is it will help get air bubbles out of the system, increase amount of coolant, and acts as a cooling reservoir of sorts. I have seen cars running without them though, some say they had cooling deficiancies.

You are the moderator...shouldn't this be in the 3rd gen forum?
Anyway...much debate over if the car needs it or not, but why do anything that will reduce the cooling efficiency by decreasing the volume of coolant. Get an aluminum one.
