Rad fan ceased...big difference in temps?

I just installed my rx7fashion front mount and my SR rad and things seemed fine on the first test drive.
However, the water temp on my power fc was showing really high.
I popped the hood and realized the passenger side rad fan was broken.
Before the fmic and with the stock rad (and both rad fans working), i was getting temps no more than 95 degrees celcius in the city and as soon as i turn on the ac on setting 1 the temps would drop to 87 degrees celcius.
Now, once the water temp gets over 85 it just keeps climbing and climbing to like 100 and as high as 108!!!!
And thats with driving like a granny!
I also replaced my old 180 degree t-stat with another factory mazda 180 degree t-stat.
Could it be the failure of the one fan thats causing the crazy high water temp!?!
I figured with the fan busted, it'd maybe be a few degrees higher but not that much higher!

any suggestions? similar experiences?

thanks in advance!

In the city at slow speeds the fans play a huge roll in keeping the car cool.
Up until a little while ago I didn't think the fans did much except for at idle when the car is completely stopped.
My friend had a Talon with a ceased fan and the car would overheat at anything under 55mph.
Find one cheap out of junk car, rotaries aren't fans of overheating

wow..
okay
yeah, i know rotaries don't like overheating
the temps havent got that bad and i've been staying off boost to make sure. I should have the new fan by tuesday..whew..
so its probably just the fact that my one fan is broken thats causing the high temps hmm?

Silly thought....you didn't happen to install the t-stat backwards now, did ya?

Maybe it's all those road apples you picked up in Cowtown...blocking your new IC and all.

I have one of my fans not working all the time. I do notice an increase in temp. but not a huge difference.
