M2 makes an AST removal kit. It costs like $40.00 and is pretty simple. Check out their site. www.m2performance.com

It is beeter to replace it with an aluminum one. Removing it reduces the amount of coolant volume and lowers the cooling system's efficiency.
The AST removal arose from racing where the cars are modified enough to negate the removal effects: much larger front grill opening, larger radiator, heavy duty oil coolers, etc.
Many owners perform the removal without obvious consequences, but then again...maybe you don't really need auto insurance either. Isn't every bit of protection worth it?

Would the AST have been removed or replaced when a PFS intercooler and cold air induction upgrades were done?? Or do I still need to look for the AST and upgrade it with a Pettit Aluminum AST?

I have the PFS IC and Intake, and my TriPoint AST will not fit well. The PVS IC has a mounting bracket for the stock AST that puts it right inbetweent the in and out pipes on the IC. Rather good engineering, but the aftermarket ASTs are cylinders and don't fit. You have to make an extension bracket to lower it about 1.5 inches.
Mine is lowered, but is a little close to the belts for my comofrt, and is blocking the IC more than I would like. So a deletion kit may be in my future.
