A/F gauge install

Hey guys I need to know something real quick before i install my Autometer A/F gauge. Well i know the purple wire is the signal wire from the O2. But which wire so i hack into to get the signal from the O2. Also is this the O2 at the top of the DP? Please get back to me. Also where is the best place to hack the 12v + wire to.

the sensor wire goes to the black wire on the ecu.

i think rob robinette have a how-to on his site. If it is not him, i know someone has it because this is how i did mine.

maybe you guys can help me on that one. I also putted the power wire in the fuse box but i have a problem.

when my system voltage (can read it with my hks type 1) goes down, my a/f mix goes down also. it seems to be going well only when my system is at 14 v. When i open the light, the sound system and the a/c, my ratio stays in the red. I am pretty sure it is not the ratio because the car runs fine but could i have bought a broken guage?

thanks a lot

I read the instructions at http://rx7.voodoobox.net/ I'm confused as to what wire to splice into for the O2 reading. The web page says:

"It is the black wire in the second column from the top (if you imagine the pins as being 2 rows x 8 columns = 16 pins). It should be across from a white wire with a blue stripe."

But when I look at my 16 pin connector head on so that the little tab thing is on the driver side, the wires in the second column from the top is a white one and a blue one. But if I count from 2 columns from the bottom of the connector then I see a white wire and a black wire like I should.

The site also says this about the power wire:

"The wire is on the upper corner of the connector and should be black with a white stripe. Mine actually looks like it has a silver stripe. It should be directly across from a blue wire with a red stripe. The connector number is 1B and is listed as the main relay."

But if I look at the connector head on so that the tab is on the drivers side, and I goto the top there is only one wire next to an empty slot. If I goto the bottom corner there is a blue wire and a black wire there.

Am I just looking at it the wrong way? Should I cut into the wires of the right color or the wires that are in the right place?

Please help me.

Oh yeah. Right now I only have the gauge power hooked up through the fuse box and it is grounded on the ECU ground. When I turn on my car the richest LED is on and stays on. This is normal since I don't have the O2 wire hooked up right?

Thanks

it is wire 3C. There are 3 connectors on the ecu. it is on the end of the middle connector (i dont remember which end).

the wire should definately be a black one, unless it was previously modified.

The autometer gauge shows on the far right (richest) led when o2 sensor is not connected. I called autometer when I was installing mine and confirmed this.

DAMN! This stupid gauge install has got me so frustrated. How come nothing can ever be easy on my car?

So far I've tried three wires.
All of them are on the third connector from the bottom.

Wire 1: The wire next to the white wire in the second column from the top. I think it was blue.

Result: The richest LED is always on.

Wire 2: The black wire next to the white wire in the second column from teh bottom.

Result: When I turn the igntion the lean LEDs flicker, then when the car is running the leanest LED is always on and it flickers when I press the brakes.

Wire 3: The black wire in the top corner.

Result: Thr richest LED is always on.

Where is the o2 wire?

you may have had the correct one with wire 2. The o2 sensor shows lean until it is up to operating temperatures. On your af gauge, it will show the leanest light or no light at all and then gradually show richer until it is warmed up.

did you run it long enough for the o2 sensor to warm up?

It had been sitting for about 2 hours. When I turned it on the temp gauge showed about 1/8-1/4 above the C. I assumed it was the wrong one becuase it flickered when I pressed on the brakes. Is it suppose to flicker?
