Engine diagnosis by sound contest

Be the first to figure out what went horribly wrong with my car and win the accolades of your peers!

I had taken the solenoid rack off my running parts car to replace some broken ones on my good one but now I wanted to put it back together since my engine in my good car is being rebuilt. After putting it all back together it started up and runs fine at idle, although it does sound a little strange, kind of cyclic hard to explain. The bad part is that as soon as I start to get boost it pings terribly! Any ideas? Thanx!

This is piece of cake: You need to change the blinker fluid in your turn signals!:p

Hehe

Well I checked the fluid and it seems okay, you think it could be my crossdrilled brake lines?

sounds like you dropped a small hose clamp down the hatch when you had the upper intake manifold off. You know, the one that was tucked safely in your shirt pocket? Check your turbo manifold for it and some apex parts. Could also be a blown muffler bearning too. But seriously, sounds like a bad air pump.

hmmm... that sounds like you discovered Sound Forge or Wave Lab and some good plugins like Waldorf D-Pole filter or Native Intruments Spektral Delay.

Seriously - is that the sound your car makes? it sounds 100% fake half way through.

Well I did use SoundForge, but not to change or make the sound up. I recorded it with my digital camcorder, transfered it via firewire to the computer, then spiced two sections together. One is standing still so it sounds much better, plus the engine is not under load. Note that this car has no roof, no doors, no hatch, no hood, and no front fenders. The second half of the clip is under acceleration at about 30mph so since there is no windsheild the cameras mic got blown out quite a bit. So are there any other theories besides me dropping stuff in the engine, being low on blinker fluid or making it all up? As far as a bad airpump, remember this engine was working perfectly before I took the throttle body, upper intake manifold and solenoid rack out, I did not touch the airpump. Is the pinging sound detonation?

Other than ping is there anything else? Low power or anything like that. How is it running other than ping issues? Did you mess up any of the fuel injector wires that could be causing low fuel therefore detonation???

I dont have any speakers at work so I couldnt listen to your recording.

did u connectthe secondary fuel injectors back when u removed the rack ??? sounds like a disconnected one OR you deletele your double throttle.. it makes the same sound

Hey maybe I left the electrical connector to the secondaries off? That is possible, I'll check. Thanx!
