Question Any disadvantages to adding a downpipe?

I have heard all of the pluses about a cooler engine bay and hp gains but do you sacrifice anything other than some emission protection? Is the car louder? Do you lose any low end power? Does it reduce fuel economy? Anything? It sounds like downpipes are the best thing since sliced bread and fds.

Best thing since sliced bread.

Once you get one on you can hear your turbos spool

All the good stuff outweighs any possible bad. Stock precat is heavy as **** and the dp is next to nothing.

Cons: loud as hell
Pros: saves weight, quicker spool up, less heat, higher flow, and then some.

an emissions inspector might not think too highly of it. But I don't think I've ever heard of anyone discovering that the pre-cat has been replaced. besides, it still passes a sniffer test.

I have not done it, but I've read alot of posts talking about how HARD it was to do. Broken bolts are common.

Man, I don't know about you guys but I went from having a stock exhaust system to having a mid pipe, down pipe, and greddy P.E all at the same time. When I picked my car up I was afraid to drive home it was so damn loud!
