your opinions about smoke...

Previous owner of the engine I got said upon start-up it smokes a little until everything warms up. He said there is a possibility the oil control rings may be going. Motor has about 70k miles on it. What do you gurus think? Rebuild, just new rings...??

maybe leaking injectors. mine smokes in the morning but i'm sure i dont have oil control ring problems since my car pulls really hard and i dont lose a lot of oil. It doesn't even beep inbetween oil changes.

well uh.. you need to replace all those other gaskets to replace the oil control o-rings..

if it isn't that bad yet, just leave it until it is bad enough to require a rebuild.

I can't yet replicate the problem until I get the motor in the car. If it is leaking injectors then it would be fixed when I do a carb conversion seing as I don't have any of the FI system. The PO said it pulled hard and ran well and didn't use an excessive amount of oil.
