yo- suspension question

Wheres REted? haven't seen him around in a while

Anyhow, I dont want to lower the front of my car i think it's stock front height is good. Although i would like to lower the back with the racing beat springs (about 1 inch) should be good. Would that be bad to stiffen up the rear and drop the rake? Or would it be just fine n dandy. Please let me know Thanks

you should always replace the springs in a set. now the rear will be stiffer than the front and cause some crazy things to happen at speed.

Yeah... Depending on how you drive your rear end is going to want to come out more. Weight will transfer much quicker in the rear with stiffer springs. Now... if you added a stiffer sway bar...you could probably drift at 5mph!!!!

Too bad stability while taking turns would be shot all to hell as well as driveability in the rain would be less than fun. Personally, I wouldn'd risk it.

I have Racing Beat springs and sways (front/rear). Handles nice around turns (pretty stiff). It keeps a almost stock feel with a 1" drop. Haven't drivin in the rain yet though.

Well he is wantin only RB spring in the rear, and old stock up front. I bet w/ tighter RB springs and sways all around it would be a lot better, but a stiff rear causes mad oversteer....

I hear ya. I've lost control in my N/A before. It's not fun. Bent a rim the size of a softball on the curb. Luckly I didn't damage the frame or control arm. Just needed new wheels and a four wheel alignment.

Actually, the RB springs won't stiffen the rear - they'll loosen it up. According to the MAZDATRIX spring rate tester, the RB rear springs are slightly softer than the stock ones, while the fronts are quite a bit stiffer - it's supposed to make for quick turn-ins. I have the RB springs, and I love them. Buy all four at once, and you'll be pleased with the handling improvements. If you go on the Mazdatrix web site, and look under "Suspension" and then pick "Springs", you'll see the charts of relative spring rates.

The suspension was shot in my TII so I replaced the springs, shocks (tokico hp's), and sways all at the same time. They feel a lot stiffer than my stock set-up (which was about 15 years old ). So anything felt better.

Mabye I should have done some resarch first. I assumed that because the springs were shorter, they would have a higher rating. Bad idea I guess on my behalf. Well, then yes, the RB rear set up should be ok w/ the stock front setup....

Good luck.......i still don't recommend it. You'll really enjoy a new set of springs all around
