I broke my p/s pulley bolt. I've been running my car without the p/s belt. Well this is my opinion, but I do have to say it.

It is retarded to run like that. You will not turn as fast without the power assist. As for the road feel, wtf gives a damn. The FC is solid enough the way it is. I think it is safer, faster to run with the p/s. Read the Grassroot motorsports article. They specifically ordered a FC with p/s

Well, I will remove the belt first, and just see for myself.

Well removing to manual rack is different, but still IMO. Not worth my damn time and money. If you want to save that 20lbs. Go eat taco bell and crap it out. Or spend the money and time on something that makes your car faster

what work?? the rx7 has to have one of the most easy to get to racks on about any car out there. if you are going to all the work to remove the pump, pulley, modify lines and such you may as well take out 4 bolts and the tie rod ends and swap it out. now i would agree with you if this was one of those cars that you have to remove the motor and pray(alot) to get it out.

just a thought

Do you have any more info on that? I swapped my P/S to a manual in january and I just had my driver's side headlights go out. I don't have a haynes or the cover for my fusebox either, could somebody tell me if there is a fuse near that, that controls the headlights.

Which models had manual rack? I am pulling my engine to fix the engine, then swapping it to another chassis, so I could get the rack and install it soon. How much do they cost??

For sure, none of the series5 came with a manual rack. Only the 86-88 models had them. It'll cost b/w $65 and $150 but if GB from mazdasurplus you'll get it even cheaper?
I think if we lighten the car enough to around 2500lb, the steering effort will be less of an issue.

I am wondering this myself. I will run w/ no pump till I get my donor chassis, and install the manual rack on it beforw I swap over my engine.
