Yet ANother P/S Question

Ok, did a search, and found that I do not have to get a manual rack if I want to remove my P/S. So all I would have to do is get a piece of P/S hose, and connect the 2 hoses. Is this all I have to do?

I'm on the same track. My origonal pump wore out. The replacement pump looses pressure at higher revs (too speed sensitive) which sucks for autocross. The threads I've read so far just say install a fluid bypass loop..

So, drain all the fluid? I have heard to leave the fluid in there. You have to somehow make sure the pressure is equal.

I hope you have tried out driving with no PS. It is a big change. I tried the no PS thing for about 2 weeks and decided it was not for me. So I decided to swap in a manual rack. The manual rack is a good bit easier to turn at slow speeds and feels tight at higher speeds. The best of both worlds. Just throwing in my 2 cents.

If there is not fluid in it. Eventualy it will freeze up and you will wreck and die. The rack needs to be lubricated.

So, all I have to do is remove the hoses from the pump, remove the pump, and connect the lines together w/ some hose? And where is the p/s control unit? I can't find fit in Hayne's!!

Yes...the ECU is under the passenger. The CPU is next to your gas pedal.
