Yet another no start problem

well this weekend I was coming back from the Cape and I stopped to fill up with gas. I was very low on gas at the time when I did. Not one mile from the gas station the car started to run extremely rough and after a few miles it would no longer run and I ended up having to get it towed.

I noticed that I could get to start and run but only if I held the gas down and even then it was running really rough. The air/fuel gauge showed the car as running super lean at idle. I have a feeling it could be my FPR or a clogged fuel filter.

does anyone have any idea what this could be? The engine is brand new with about 1200mi on it and the compression is fine. Any help would be appreciated!

The AF gauge is probably not a good indicator here, since the O2 sensor probably isn't warm enough to get a true reading.

Anytime you have a drivability problem like this, check all the usual. I'd start with a fresh set of plugs - at least the leadings. I've seen similar situations where the plugs fouled out.

Next is fuel filter and examining the tank for trash that the pump could have picked up when you ran the gas super low.

It's most likely something really easy.

the O2 sensor was still warm when I was reading the gauge. The car had started back up 60 seconds after it quit but would not stay running and then it quit and wasn't able to start again.

I checked the plugs, they're all fine and were not fouled.

Run some good fuel system cleaner and change the fuel filter. See what happens. With our old cars there can be alot on the bottom of the gas tank.
