Yet another car runs like crap thread....

I just got my car back on the road friday night. Saturday my car has a little hickup where it ran as if it was running on one rotor. It did this for about 10 minutes, turned the car off and right back on and it ran fine. today it ran fine on my way to work. On the way home I stop and see a friend. Get back in the car and it is running like crap again. during the 1 mile drive from my friends house to mine it ran like ****, but once in a while it would "wake up" and run fine in about 30 second bursts.

I have searched around here and I am starting to think that it might be a stuck injector. What do you all think?

thanks for the help.

sounds to me a vac line more than a dirty injecter..the injecter wouldnt change the driving conditions like that..check the tid vac line that connects back by the bac solonoid. .

im thinking alittle more info would help us help you quicker.. why was the car off the road..? by running shitting can you narrow that down alittle any specific rpm, certain gear. how does it accelerate? does it feel like its misfiring, and noises? smoke? smell?? when was the lasrt time the plugs or wires were replaced??

I also wouldnt point to a stuck injector. At least not at first.

What you describe sounds like an electrical issue. Possibly a ground, but if it indeed is only one rotor laying down more likely a spark plug or wire. Although it could be a short or bad wire to one of the primary injectors.

It could also be a vac line as mentioned above. But if it were it would not be such a drastic instantanious change in driveability.

When this happens get out of the car and watch the exhaust. If it blackens or changes in smell dramatically it could be a sticky injector.

It was sitting due to a bad clutch pivot ball. runs like crap throughout the rpm range, all gears and sounds like it running on one rotor. once in a while it "wakes up" and runs fine, but not for long. No wierd smells and no additional smoke. Plugs and wires are maybe 6 months old and looked alright when I pulled them. acceleration is slow and its running real lean, except when near idle, oh and it won't idle on its own.

I checked the vacuum hoses and everything was good. Unplugged and replugged the sparkplug wires, so its bad connection of wires.

Ok I lied. It wasn't the plug wires. After alot of thinking I realized that with the AFR guage showing that I was running real lean that I had a fuel delivery issue. the pump is new and the injectors were cleaned about a year ago, so i thought that it could be the fuel filter. It hasn't been replaced since I got the car and then it came to me. About a week ago when I got home from work the gas door was open, and the cap was loose.

As far as I can figure a disgruntled ex-girlfirend more than likely came and put sugar in my gas tank. She knows my car well, and now knows where I live. Sure as ****, when I pulled the fuel filter out this sludge of gas and sugar came pouring out. CLOGGED FILTER. New one is in and all is well.

I have resurrected this thread cause I was wrong. Yes, my tank had a bunch of **** in it I can only assume was sugar or silica sand, but flushing my whole fuel system didn't help. Today I got out of work early to work on it, and the first thing I did was cleaned the plugs. I tried to start it again but nothing. I then took the intake off to see if any of the injector wiring was frayed or any disconnected vacuum hoses. Again nothing. Then a light bulb turned on in my head. When I pulled the tranny to replace the pivot ball I relocated the ground wire that originally is attached to the slave cylinder bolt. I put it on top of the rear side iron above the oil pedestal. Well, i guess that wasn't a good ground point. I moved it to the place on the rear rotor housing where other ground wires attach. Put it all back together and BINGO! started and runs fine.
