Yes or No: to fuel injector cleaner

I usually use 1 can of JECTRON high potent fuel injector cleaner in my cars every once ina great while and I was curious if this would cause any harm in the 13b fuel injected rotary motor?

I have NEVER had any problems just positive experiences with the cleaner in my past cars...

either way would this harm my engine?

Dave

Nope, wont harm anything unless you mix it to rich and foul an o2 sensor.

I don't think it will harm the rotary if used occasionally, but then again, I don't think it will do much good either. If your injectors have never been professionally cleaned and benchmarked, it might serve you better to have it done. Costs about $25 per injector but you'll get new O-rings and grommets too. Pain in the tushy to get 'em out, and turnaround is about a week.
Worth it though.

I don't think you would notice any improvement from running cleaner through the gas....just my $0.02 worth.

well in the past I have used this stuff on my other "piston" engine cars, and it has done stuff as in:

clean up a sticky fuel sender unit
remove a hesitation
get a car to run when it would not (clogged injectors to unclog)

other then that it is no miracle juice I just think it does decent stuff for what it is used for and I wanted to make sure it would not harm any part of the rotary engine

I consider those placebo cleaners. They help clean out your mind not car.

How are a few ounces of a liquid sitting in your fuel system for a short while going to really clean your injectors. Heck, It might even make them worse by dislodging some gunk and clogging the injector more.

Ultrasonic pro cleaning is really the only way to go. You not only have real machines doing the job but you get before and after readings to tell what really got fixed.

cruzinperformance.com does some cheap and good cleaning.

Not everybody has more than one car. Some people cant afford to have their rides off the road. There's nothing wrong with throwing in some Redline FSC or Tectron.

i have recently seen a study where several so called ''fuel injector cleaners'' were just not what they were cracked up to be. The majority of fuel injector cleaners are simply a mild octane boost that will allow your car to run a little better for a short time.

The redline FSC is probably the best ''additive'' to use to clean them somewhat, however to properly get injectors cleaned they must be removed and sent to a professionally.

The rotary does not lend a hand when looking for a simple removal either but when you compare the prices of geting new injectors versus cleaned, that would just be a matter of how fat your wallet is my friend.

JUst my own opinion. Thanks for letting me share.

You can get the injectors cleaned and flowbenched at www.cruzinperformance.com for 12 bucks a piece plus shipping. If you can afford to have the car down for a week or two, thats your best bet.
I personally use either texaco or chevron gas, so it has techron in it already.

Take the injectors to a local diesel shop. They probably have a cleaner. Won't take a week or two either...

a few months ago on my FD I noticed a gradual loss of power somewhere, and I couldn't figure out what the problem was. I've used additives in the past, but I never noticed a difference, so I decided not to waste my $10 or so on a cleaner anymore. But after reading so many positive reviews on Chevron Techron, I decided to give it a shot. I shortly noticed a huge difference, especially through the mid powerband range. Even my girlfriend, who is in it every day and didn't know about my purchase, asked if the car was faster. And I saw the earlier post about it being just an octane booster, but I'm several tankfuls later without further using it and the power is still there. So I'm very happy with the results of it.

Witchhunter.com cleaned and flow tested my Injectors for $60. They ship it back at no additional cost too. 2 of my injectors had little change, but the other 2 had there flow increased quite a bit. Plus I hadf them back in a littl eunder a week.

Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner & fuel system cleaner are good. Most others aren't.

Fuel injector cleaner is NEVER necessary if you use good gas. Chevron, 76 and Shell are the good major brands (www.toptiergas.com). Good gas has detergents an other nice additives, just like good motor oil. Good fuel injector cleaner has the same additives, only more. Filling up with lousy gas 5-10% of the time won't hurt anything. If you've been using lousy gas for a long time, then the Techron stuff may be a good idea. Or sometimes it won't be enough and you'll need a mechanic/service to clean them.

Injector cleaner.

I have to say this thread was rather helpful. Myself was wondering the same about if it was harmful or not. I want to replace the injectors outright bc they are stock and I'm about to roll over 200,000 on my fc, and since it's a daily right now I don't have time to wait for shipping. And in my personal opinion having them cleaned by a professional or yourself might still not solve the problem and or who says how much longer they will last. That's why I want to replace them. But for now I will give chevron a shot. Thank you all.
