Yes another gauge thread

I'm looking into getting a boost gauge for my 87 t2, and I can't decide on what series for the life of me. I think it's between the phantom series from autometer or the cobalt. Tell me what you think, if you have either of these installed please post a pic.

The black one looks nicer and goes better with the car. But the white one is easier to read. so its up to on which one you want.

Autometer has so many boost gauges to offer, it's so hard for me atleast to decide on a gauge. So basically the white doesnt suit the car but is better visible, the black one suits the car but is less visible. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

You know what ... I've got a prosport gauge, that came with the car uninstalled. But I looked up the value and seen it was worth $25 and thought it was a piece of **** and decided to look at autometer.

Not only is it not necessary, but you can read it better with 20psi.

Readability is a very important issue for boost gauges especially, and even more so if it won't be a flash-glance away from straight ahead, like down near the stereo where many people put gauges. So, white and only about as much as you'll need (20psi vs 30, unless showing off how high your boost gauge can go is really important to you...) will definitely help readability.

I like the look of my black Sport Comp's. I've seen the Z series in a FD and they look good also with the black faces and black bezels.

If you want to spend more then the Nexus or Sport Comp II's look great, but then your getting really high in the price range. For that much I think some Omori's with the adjustable color would be awesome.

I prefer white gauges from personal experience, but then again, the darker gauges that i had were poorly thought through by autometer, so they illuminated terribly.

Look at the Stewart Warner Maximum series gauges also if you want to stay around that price range. I had them in my wifes DSM and they worked great also.

You should be watching the road anyways not down or to the side looking at a boost gauge. I know when I'm driving down the road I have a hard time just looking at my boost gauge and trying to peak at the wideband at the same time.

The best thing for a boost gauge is to have some kind of peak hold or a boost controller that shows your last peak and even a warning. Most of those gauges are $.

I have no problem with the lighting on my black face gauges.

+1 on the white- this is my setup- they glow blue at night. Gauge faces all match. I also have an AFM (narrowband) under the stereo.

Looks good but as you can see, I'm canadian and a speedo in miles is gay. If corksport made a canadian version of the speedo I would buy it instantly, along with a white faced boost gauge. Looking good murray!

Better flow? As in better boost readings? Well that would be ideal would it not?

Another vouch for prosport. I love there gauges and they are all i run, If you get the whole set they really look good. Ive had autometer gauges and just never really liked them at all, ive had 4 or 5 water temp gauges just stop working on me from them and that was enough for me to switch.

Also opening ceremonies FTW
