Ya! Finally did a compression check, and a little intake mod. (vid)
I had the day off, so I fixed a few small irritating things, and finally got around to doing a compression check. Both rotors "bounced at ~60psi with the valve open, and I got final numbers of 110psi for the front, and 100 at the rear. At 108,xxx miles I should have plenty of time to save for a TII. Hopefully I won't have kids by then.
I saw MichaelFregoe's intake in a previous thread and decided WTH, nothing else to do today, and made one of my own. It was easy, painless, and works as good as a cone filter as far as I can tell. It sounds awesome. You can now hear the engine coming from under the hood via the intake piping, and coupled with the exhaust sounds scary. I did blow my new exhaust gasket at the cat today though.
(order the Mazda ones, I didn't , and got owned).
I made a quick vid, but thanks to the way teh camera captures audio, it sounds more like an weed eater on crack: http://r3ptilicus.home.comcast.net/r...rx7intake1.wmv

Yeah, I guess it really didn't. Hehe. You know that shiny part that says Mazda? I cut the off, so it's basically just the filter there and all that's left is enough to hold the filter down. It's a K&N washable type, and you can sorta see it in the early parts of the video .
