Look at the thing in the door jam. It should tell you the build date.

Damn. Well, does it have any injectors in it now? The color should tell you. Also, I believe the 87 (not 87.5) should have a resistor pack on one side of the engine bay for the injectors. Off the top of my head, its on the pass side strut tower, but I could be wrong about that. Judging by the serial number, it was a VERY early turbo model, made in early-mid '86 but sold as an '87, thus making it not an 87.5.
Edit: just noticed you are the guy with diff colored primary and seconday injectors from the other thread. Both the injector colors you have are for the 86-87 model years.

fromthe FAQ for FC sticky thread:
What does the VIN number mean/break down??

The North American Vehicle Identification Number breaks down like this:

RX-7 86-88 (8/85 - 12/88)
JM1 FC 33 1 * G 0 ######
JM1= Mazda Passenger Car
FC = RX7 Series
33= Coupe
35= Convertible
1= 1308cc 13B rotary non-turbo
2= 1308cc 13B rotary turbo
*= Check Digit
G= 1986
H= 1987
J= 1988
0= Hiroshima Plant
######= Serial Number
It is an 87....Not a 86.5

i knew what that the faqs say ice but when the serial number is 150639... just making a funny and wondering because:
1. my car runs boost on red injectors not sure the numbers on them but it runs rich in boost
2.i have a glass sunroof and i have never seen one in a rx7
3.have to make sure exactly what year it is since there is a difference between the 87 model. plus i have to hear people say (or type) i am just that way i like reassurance

and the 86.5 thing was a joke by the way

Yes, but the FAQ doesn't show exactly which car I have. For example, mine has a S4 rear end, NA body, TII hood, and S5 front end, and those darn FAQs don't show what year it is or which model came with those options. Man, this forum sucks because the FAQs don't list which model I have with those options. I just want some "reassurance". It's not like anything on the car has been changed in the last 20 years.

While I am at it...
What kind of differential does my car have?
Is synthetic oil OK for my car?
How do I make my NA into a turbo?

Hehehe
