Wtf, engine studders at low mid rpms...

ok, I sent my car in to the bodyshop to get it painted. I thought everything went well until he called me... he said the car wouldn't start, I go to the shop and it's flooded, i can smell the fumes and the plugs were wet. I tried the 1-3 step and pulling fuel plugs and nothing worked. I also tried putting a bit of oil in the spark plug holes, nothing. then we checked for spark, and there was no spark, wtf? so we got new sparks..still no spark...ok, we gave up. I got my car sent to the mechanics. Appearently the ECU under the passenger dash was wet..the carpet and everything was still wet. the mechanic didn't do anything but dry it, so now it starts but i need to hit the gas to start it up...making progress...

now when I drive it , the engine seems to boggle/studder....ie) if i hold the gas at 3000rpms, u can hear it boggling like a V8...then when i'm driving and go WOT...it stutters and the car boggles..it seems to be driveable at low rpms but not at WOT. it also doesn't seem to want to go higher than 3500-4000rpms...i didn't like how it was acting at 3500 so i didn't bother going further incase something happened...

please help, the car was fine before the damn painter got ahold of it...right now i'm going to change the oil since the engine was flooded pretty damn good...and the car idles fine.

is there anything i should check? the fuses by the clutch pedal? I think the painter pulled out a fuse that was blown..could there be a fuse down there that is causing this?

Try changing the TPS sensor. I had a problem just like this. My car would stumble, and run like crap anywhere between 2500 and 4000 rpms. I rarely got it over 4000 rpms (didn't matter if it was under acceleration or a neutral rev, always did the same thing). I checked the TPS with the ohm method and the reading was way above the specs. Replaced the TPS with another one, and the problem went away. Hope this helps.

I believe the ECU's are different, but the TPS's are the same. I'm not absolutely sure though.

try holding it up at the higher rpm till it clears out - maybe one or two chambers are flooded.
when my car was flooded and i got it started, it wasnt running all that smooth - i held it around 3000 ish for a while and then all of a sudden, it cleared out and started running normal again...

made some cool backfires too - couldnt hurt to try!

rather than dick around testing tps and o2 sensors etc, just unplug them and see how the thing goes. Sounds to me like your down spark in one rotor though. Start with the easy one, the spark plugs, and go from there.

spark plug tester, they have them at autozone, nappa, ect... they just hook up to the wire and the plug and light up if they are sparking

Could it be a bad fuel filter? i was talking to a guy in my town who has an FC..who got the car painted at the same place mine did, and he had the exact same problems from them!!(i didn't know until after i got mine done)...he changed the plugs and fuel filter and it was fixed...

well, a new ECU should solve your problems, BUT make sure you seal the area where the ECU is so that you dont get the same issues, and i would sue the crap out of that paint shop
