Wrapping my Exhaust
Well heat shield fell off my cat converter the other day and now i want to wrap my converter because it makes the inside of the car really hot around the shifter and did before the heat shield loss. Plus i just discovered i need to replace my cat converter gaskets because the rear one has a slight leak and i need to get the cat converter rubber hanger while im under there.
My question is how much 2 inch wide wrap should i buy? I plan on doing my cat converter and possibly my precats. Then later on im going to do my y-pipe. Also should i apply the special high temp. silicone spray on the wrap or just leave it naked?

Kinda-sorta on topic:
Have you checked out the bushings in your shifter? My FC used to bake until I found out that all the rubber bushings in my shifter were concrete now.
Once I replaced them, my interior cooled down nicely.

the heat shield that is welded to the cat converter is what fell off. the heat shield on the body is still there.
as for the inner boots i am going to replace them soon but the reason for wrapping the exhaust is its gets very warm on the side of the trans tunnel where i usually rest my leg. Plus the console gets hot enough to make chapstick gooey.

the wrap is sold in rolls. one roll of 2 inch should do it but you should look into some better heat barrier stuff. check out http://www.thermotec.com/index.html

if the cat is clogged then i apparently live in the twilight zone. especially being it is gutted.
if i wrap it i might spray the silicone sealant on it to help keep moisture retention to a minimum.
that was also the exact wrap i was looking at.

a lot of the other wraps on ebay are much thinner and are only rated to 1000 degrees...if you are gonna get it from ebay, thats probably your best bet. jegs also has similar wrap for the same price but it doesn't come with ties and you'll have to pay more for shipping.
